DJ T stands in his apartment in Berlin’s Mitte district surrounded by walls of vinyl. “So I’m in my forties now,” he says, grinning like a cheeky schoolboy. “In some ways I feel really old, but in other ways I still feel like a young boy.” Age can’t stop DJ T. At his 40th birthday party and album launch at Panorama Bar on Sunday, Mr. Koch DJed with a glowstick in his mouth. In a few hours the Get Physical founder will begin a grueling six month world tour in support of his brand new album ‘The Inner Jukebox’ (he will send weekly blog dispatches from the road exclusively for Beatportal throughout). And tonight, he will stream a live DJ set broadcast from Hungary’s Balaton festival via Awdio.

Irish-born Marcus Lambkin (a.k.a. Shit Robot) may be one of the lower-profile members of the DFA crew, but that doesn’t mean the man doesn’t have some serious DJ chops. Now living in Stuttgart, Germany, Shit Robot may not emerge from the shadows too often, but when he does, we here at XLR8R are sure to pay attention. His latest single, “Simple Things (Work It Out),” is an ace offering of new-school disco that features a WTF?

Today, Google officially launched the ability to filter search results using Creative Commons licenses inside their Image Search tool. It is now easy to restrict your Image Search results to find images which have been tagged with our licenses, so that you can find content from across the web that you can share, use, and even modify. Searches are also capable of returning content under other licenses, such as the GNU Free Documentation License, or images that are in the public domain.
To filter by CC search, go to Google’s advanced Image Search page and select the options you’d like in the “Usage rights” section. Your results will be restricted to images marked with CC licenses or other compatibly licensed photos.
Remember, Google can only provide search results that its algorithms find tagged with the license you specify; it is your obligation to verify the license of the image you’re using and make sure you’re conforming to its guidelines.
This is a huge step forward for the future of image search on the web, so congratulations to the Google team on another great CC implementation!

Thanks to his dad Klaus grew up with electronic music by J.M. Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schultze, Space, Charlie Mike Sierra, Johan Timman, Alphaville and lots of others. Strongly influenced by the artists mentioned, he found his way to the recordstores and started collecting his own vinyl in the early 90s.

our guest mix cup hath runneth over recently and the overflow continues this week with a stellar mix from the inimitable luke vibert. the man of many names (including wagon christ, plug, kerrier district and, well, luke vibert) from the fair land of cornwall has been making this electronic music making lark look easy in host of sub genres for the best part of two decades and yet still remains a sprightly young pup.
his releases on rephlex, ninja tune, warp and astralwerks are pretty much stalwarts in any allez-allez set so we’re pretty stoked to have him guest at our online club especially with such an outstanding mix..

If an ep was designed to be a pure example of crossover in action, this is it. Seventies style (re: Dirty Harry) electric piano leads mixed in with 21st Century ambient, chill, idm and glitch elements create a wonderfully unique sound – sonic stylus’ masterpiece combines all those elements that language lab is famous for and this is the result. definately a great introduction to the new year from llab.

Berliner Marc Miroir’s profile soared after he released “Kraft,” which was later licensed to Claude VonStroke’s Fabric mix CD. He recently issued “Sponge” with partner in crime Asem Shama, where they illustrate yet again their brilliant teamwork. Miroir also produced “T-Bone” with Frankfurt legend Pascal FEOS, and a dropped a digital-only track, “Cars.” With his production career burgeoning, Miroir proves that he can thrown down on the decks with the best of them on his exclusive Big Shot Guest Mix.

Fast-forward to the present and Cabrera’s deep, groovy tunes have been released on a variety of labels such as Agoo, Minibus, Bosphorus, Underground, Vekton Musik, Attary and Monique Musique, and SK Supreme. Here’s Cabrera recorded live on the decks back in February.

While out at Sonar in Barcelona last month, we were at a loss for what to do on the Saturday night. We couldn’t be bothered with the €48 (!) entry fee to Sonar By Night, nor the epic mission to get back from one of the beach parties out of town. So we chanced upon Leeds’ tech house label 2020Vision’s night at the nearby City Hall club. Turned out to be a great choice – we heard some of the best music all week at this intimate, sweaty party.
None more so than during 2020Vision main man Ralph Lawson’s sumptuous set of sexy, bumping tech house. As soon as we got back to London we were emailing his people – and lo and behold we have the very same set for you this week, recorded live and unedited from that very night at City Hall. To say we were excited would be an understatement. This mix is seriously hot!

This episode is full of trip-hop, soulful grooviness. Starting with an introduction from Guillaume of the popular trip hop ensemble, SHINE, we launch into SHINE’s opening track (”Soulful Music”) from their album “The Common Station,” which you can buy from iTunes, Amazon, and other online sellers. Every track on this album is enjoyable from beginning to end, so I highly recommend that you buy it. Guillaume informs us that they’re working on a new album with Terry Reid that should come out later this year. Can’t wait!
The beats and grooves continue throughout. There’s quite a few Jamendo artists in this episode: Screenatorium, from France, with “Addiction,” Wasaru, also from France, with “Old Story,” Chill Carrier, from Germany, with “Me and My Rocket,” and Shyam Monk, from India, with a memorable and enchanting world groove called “Orphan’s Song,” that will leave you thinking “how can I hear more from this guy??” It’s that good.
The netlabels have solid representation here, as well. The artist Lost Soul Refuge is here with a track from his new release on the Dusted Wax Kingdom netlabel, called “Black Orchid.” PinocChio SP from Germany shares a track called “Last Days,” released on a compilation on the Konsum netlabel in Germany. Phour Trakk has a totally chilled groove called “Running on Karma,” and there’s a soulful, sample mashup from Ate One that sounds like Archie Bell and the Drells have arrived in the 21st century, both from the Id.eology netlabel in Germany.
Three more independent artists have tracks in this podcast, and you’re sure to enjoy all of them: Di Evantile (also known as Oleg Somov), from Kazakhstan included “Storm,” which has some nice breaks in it. Leon Somov from Lithuania has the Brazilian flavored “Mano (Arclab and Nearth, the Parentheses remix)” with Jazzu. And there’s yet another track from the prolific and wonderfully trip hoppy Suhov in Hungary: “Tinilányok Alma.”
Enjoy the music. And please support these artists and netlabels by buying …or licensing …their music and spreading the word about them: turn it up and let it be heard!

Varoslav (his real name, from Czech origin), enjoys at the current age of 30, from a rich musical background. Inspired by black roots from hip hop to nineties house.
His passion for music quickly led him to spin records (playing some of the best Parisian clubs), and naturally his desire to play his own sounds pushed him to production.
His groovy, sexy and energetic style sliding from tech to deep house was, amongst others, influenced by his meetings with David K and later Guy Gerber, who he is working with for the label at the moment.
Self-taught, he completely got involved into music and released his first productions on digital labels. His first vinyl release came out in April 2008 on the Spanish label Tishomingo. Since then, he’s developing further into production with different collaborations with artists like dOP,Okain,Yakine,David K..
This releases have seen his reputation as one of the most exciting new DJ/Production talents, grow at an astonishing rate. The admiration from his peers has allowed to him play some of the finest clubs in Europe, including the Panorama Bar and Weekend club in Berlin, the Silo [Leuven], Studio 80 [Amsterdam], and Underground in Ibiza.
Experiences that have proved to be very inspiring. After a thorough road testing in his own DJ sets, it is a great pleasure for him to finally present his “Inside Ways” EP. This EP sees Varoslav team up with Paris-based trio and long time friends ‘dOP’. with massive support from the greatest DJ’s, good thing to continue his musical way….

Paris DJs Soundsystem presents Stanton Moore
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2009-07-07
Last year in February we introduced you to Galactic, the number one funk band in New Orleans and their swamp jazz hippie hop funk thing. This morning they contacted our teammate Doctor L asking him if he was interested in producing their next album. Tonite we’re introducing you to the parralel works of Galactic’s drummer, Stanton Moore, one of the best of our times and the true star of the band. It’s a small world… in which Stanton is the one!

When Thomas of Mystified offered us to release some of his music we didn’t hesitate a second! So here comes an excellent album of mysterious droning music, abstract & spacey sound studies with sometimes warm melancolic overtones, and sometimes colder and harsher sounds. Don’t miss this new fascinating trip in Mystified’s subtle (unmistakable but ever-changing) world of sound…
