Andreas Werner is one of today’s most prolific figures in the incredible Techno universe of Cologne. He encapsulates a delicate rhythmic sound and expression that is best exemplified in his 12” Zwrtshak Drive—a favourite among artists such as Guido Schneider, Richie Hawtin or Ricardo Villalobos on his most recent tour. It was also a #1 selection in the German publication Groove Magazine. Supported over the last few months by Triple R (head of the Traum label) under his pseudonym Audio Werner, Andreas has developed a sound that has renewed and continued the refined Techno tradition in Cologne—the flagship European city for electronic music over the last decade.
Audio Werner has recorded for several years at Traum, Trapez, Moon Harbour, Hartchef and Ware (the label run by Matthias Schafhauser), disseminating his meticulous works that today still reveal many fresh nuances. His sound is part of genre that the Germans gravitate to consistently and not without palpable success, especially considering the adversity towards decadent raves in recent memory. Both contemplative and functional, his musical style is a voice for artistic minimalism in Cologne and serves as a reference for the entire international scene.

Sovitz es un joven productor madrileño amante de la música en su vertiente más creativa que intenta fusionar estilos tales como IDM, electro, dubstep, minimal-techno y hip-hop. Colabora en el staff del netlabel Flumo.com y ha publicado con ellos un EP ([fld005] Go Away) y un tema para un recopilatorio.

Otras de sus facetas son la de DJ, pinchando en clubs, discotecas y raves de Madrid, siendo en la actualidad uno de los DJ´s residentes del Costello Club; y crítico musical, colaborando desde hace tiempo en clubbingspain.com y antes en webs como Espacio3, fanzines como Bang! y publicaciones gratuitas como la desaparecida Bad Magazine.

En su nuevo trabajo, “The Big Empty EP”, para Nota Negra da una vuelta de tuerca más a un sonido que requiere más de un momento para definirse y de una buena linterna para no perderse entre las tinieblas.

Sovitz loves the music in his more creative aspect and he tries to blend styles such as IDM, electro, dubstep, minimal-techno and hip-hop. He is collaborating in the Flumo.com staff, another spanish netlabel, where he launched a release ([fld005] Go Away) and a song for a compilation.

He is also a DJ, playing in clubs, discotheques and raves in Madrid and is currently one of the resident Djs of Costello Club. He is a musical journalist too and has worked in magazines such as Espacio 3, Bang! Or Bad Magazine. Actually, he is writting for clubbingspain.com

In his new release, The Big Empty, for Nota Negra he turn his sound more complex because it needs more time to define itself and we will need a good torch not to get lost in the darkness.

Mario es un mc que se hizo un hueco en la escena asturiana siendo parte de grupos como Titanes y a colaboraciones con Stoned Atmosphere. HaChe, productor (miembro a su vez de Nexus 6), inició su carrera en la electrónica como DJ antes de dar el paso al hip hop. Y DJ Poe, tras su paso por otras formaciones de hip hop y nu-jazz, entró a formar parte del grupo a mediados de 2007. Juntos forman Remote Resource, un grupo asturiano/madrileño de hip hop electrónico o abstracto.

Influenciados por artistas de sellos como anticon, Def Jux y Ninja Tune, entre otros, no tienen miedo a ser diferentes y a arriesgar para buscar su sonido, en el que convergen las letras satíricas, las burlas y las metáforas imposibles con la música electrónica y experimental.

Ahora nos presentan el maxi Otros tiempos, adelanto de su primer disco para Nota Negra Recordings, Alguien tenía que hacerlo. Las canciones que encontramos en este adelanto son Otros tiempos, una mirada nostálgica al pasado que se cruza con la fricción de dos épocas y las trágicas consecuencias que podría traer la era tecnológica, No quiero empates, una crítica sobre la importancia que se le da en el mundo de la música a lo material en vez de buscar la esencia de la misma música, y Recurso Remoto, que describe la trayectoria del grupo hasta este momento y donde destaca las dificultades y luchas para que el sueño pudiera seguir adelante.

Mario is an mc who was a former member of Titanes and featured with Stoned Atmosphere. HaChe, producer (member of Nexus 6), started his career as an electronic DJ and then turned into hip hop. Finally, DJ Poe a former member of hip hop and nu-jazz groups, joined Remote Resource in the middle of 2007. They are Remote Resource, an electronic or abstract hip hop group.

They are influenced by artists of anticon, def jux or ninja tune, they aren’t afraid to be different and take risks to find their sound, where converge the satiricals lyrics, the jokes and the imposibles metaphors with the electronic and abstract hip hop music.

They offer us their single Otros tiempos, an advance of their first album for Nota Negra Recordings, Alguien tenía que hacerlo. The songs that we can find in this advance are Otros tiempos, a nostalgic look to the past that turns into the tragic consequences that the tech age could bring; No quiero empates, is a criticism to attach importance to the material things in the music world instead of to the music essence, and Recurso Remoto, that describes the group course so far and that emphasizes the difficulties and struggles so as the dreams could go on.

This is a mix of percurssion and sounds with the electro trying to explode, good meaning of rhythm, put you dance like no one does and that was the propose of this party sounds, the amusement.”

A Russian DJ mixing German hip hop with funk and disco-house, this can only be DJ Kirill Sergeew from St. Petersburg. This mix made of Ideology tracks is showing that netaudio is providing much more than only tech-house.

DJ Kirill Sergeew was born in 1985, St. Petersburg, Russia. In his childhood his parents sent him to take classical piano classes, but while growing up he became more and more interested in other kinds of music and taught himself to play the guitar. After playing in bands influenced by Sonic Youth, Jesus and Mary Chain he started to write music using electronic instruments.

While playing in the Band Uniquetunes he worked on his own material using the style of DJ-cutting influenced by DJ Shadow, Dj Vadim, Coldcut and Mr.Scruff. Summer 2006 he started to release this material, the first EP was out on July 23rd on the Japanese netlabel Bump Foot. Then he released one more EP and a single on this label, and two mixes called “Modern Classiques” Vol. 1 & 2 at Sonic Walker (Holland) and Mixotic. Kirill plays lovely material, including artists from his home country, classical and nu jazz, house, hiphop, triphop, much downtempo, 70th rock, pop and much more. In his live sets he is using vinyl and cds including scratches and effects.

Gentle. Deep. Freeing. The masterful qualities shed the old growth of their evocative skins like flowers of frequency. Dropping pedals to nurture the tender foreground of an ever-awakening hopeful landscape. Post digital sputtering ala the late 90’s glitch movement, mixed with an ambient attitude, interwoven into a tapestry of cosmic ease and passive conventional comfort. Cordell Klier shines as usual with this breezy spring-inspired document.

“Going Forth By Day” is a light hearted notion rising out of a generally somber performer. The audio concepts are color filled, bright and inspiring, leaving the listening with a feeling of pure luxury. Almost like your newly decorated loft in the town you’ve always loved. Crack open that bottle of red, kick back and enjoy.

Regosphere is Andrew Quitter, a really productive man from Portland, Oregon. He does harsh noise music with “Suburbia Melting” since 1998, is running the DumpsterScore Home Recordings label, and between all this, he finds time for his new project Regosphere with synth miniatures, dark ambient elements, field recordings and lo-fi noises.

The three pieces on “The Coast By Train” have a duration from 8 to 15 minutes. The ride starts with “In Darkened Hills”, an ambient drone piece with oscilating synthesiser tones, tiny glitches and a modulating dark soundscape in the background. “The Ghost Were Hung By Wire” is a haunted and spooky piece, very athmospheric and very fragile. The last track “Black Keys” is a 15 minute melodic journey with field recording parts, synth patterns and a beautiful melody, crawling into your ear.

Love it or hate it! The finest selection of polish music now on one album. As usual in case of “The best of…” compilations everyone can find something to suit his or her taste. What we have here is 20 top polish hits performed by 20 artists. They prefer to stay anonymous to keep you focused on these great tracks that are presented in modern versions to reveal their hidden beauty. They sometimes differ a lot from original versions what for many conservative listeners may come as a shock but it’s still an essential collection for every music lover.

Now a little bit more serious… 20 anonymous polish artist smashes 20 polish top hits transforming pop s**t into modern avantgarde music. The idea of plunderphonics is here expanded from just messing with bits and pieces of original tracks to creating some good music from unpleasant pop sounds. So except mashups you get some breakcore, ambient, digital hardcore, noise and many other unclassified forms. Your mom won’t like it.

“(…) There hasn’t been much lately in electronic music that has really made me stand at attention until this release peaked my interest in a huge way.
The entire album plays on a downbeat mood. I feel like much more time and effort was spent on artistic value within the album rather than trying to make an album that people want to dance to. Thus, a very intelligent album was created in “The Best of Polish Smooth Jazz… Ever!” I found myself becoming extremely relaxed while listening to the tracks and didn’t feel overwhelmed with a multitude of sampling complexity. Though I’m sure much of what they’ve done is complex, it never feels like you need to rack your brain for answers. Most of the songs start off vamping on a single note or interval that resonates throughout the entire song while subtle melodies play in the background accompanied by clever drum fills.

The complexity of the album is in what is sampled rather than the album’s actual sound. Recycling Records actually deconstructs songs such as a pop-rock ballad and from those deconstructed files, he creates the ambient sounds that you hear on the record. The mood of the album is also extremely unique to any electronic album I’ve ever given my attention to. Though other artists such as Bonobo or Amon Tobin have a lot of slow-paced songs of their own, especially the former of the two, neither of them pay as much attention to the ambient noise like Recycling Records does.

If you’re into electronic music, “The Best of Polish Smooth Jazz… Ever!” is definitely a must-have in your music collection. It would even be interesting for a pop-rock fan to get their hands on to try and figure out what songs have been deconstructed. Recycling Records truly has done something entirely unique with “The Best of Polish Smooth Jazz… Ever!” and for once the listeners are able to feel the difference rather than having to listen intently for it.(…)”

Latest addition to This Side Music’s roster, irishman Mick Chillage, an avid music lover for decades and long-time contributor to the underground electronic scene in his homelands, beatifully crafts his inspiration and influences to create three fresh sounding analog tracks which retain their old-school character while they keep an open eye to the future.

Eye on the City sets off electro-style with its acidic bassline and breakbeat rhythm paving the way for the melody and a huge bass synth to kick in. Keep in mind that this melody may stick in your head for a while! Next up, Project Echo sounds exactly like one should expect; filled with echoing synths and a so-deep bassline along a filtered detroit rhythm section that invite you to join their dubby soundspace. The last track on the EP, Altitude, promises to get you as high as you let yourself; and it couldn’t miss with a soft & nice melody like this.

Think we’ve been lost in the jungle?

Not quite… the Mixomat story continues as early spring sees the release of Serendipity’s “Winter” here at Mixomat Recordings.

A sonic memory of a cold season, painted in deep techy colours, with a strong hint of classical and ambient.

And those strings and pianos will make you feel warmer in any season…

Serendipity is based in Nottingham, UK and apart from producing deep house, ambient and classical, she plays classical piano, has been djing at different venues and works as music tech teacher.

Seeing these tracks as her first steps into the stage light, we are anticipating what is to come.
