«Under the media hype-fueled turmoil, in deeper underground zones lives a multitude of organisms, which discreetly threads its way seeking the opportunity to call our attention. Such is the case of the Croatian collective TrianguliZona. Ivan Kapec (electric guitar and electronics), Andrej Jakuš (trumpet, flugelhorn and electronics), Janko Novoselić (drums) and Vladimir Končar (video), have been working in the confluence of different languages in modern music, a complex reality which, pointing at several directions, blurs the borders between genres and styles. From electro-jazz with distant references to 70’s electric Miles Davis, to ambient-flavored experimentalism, to Steve Reich’s minimalism, going through dub and loop techniques, all framed with a live improvisation setting, there are recognizable signs in the music of TrianguliZona. This blend results in a homogenous sound, with an experimental flavor. Instant composition as a result of the sound-image interaction, in which sound and vision acquires a special place in live performances. The main impression is jazz-fusion, based on progressive electric guitar, trumpet with pedal and electronic effects, and this mighty groove, balanced with creativity and good taste. Melodic and hypnotic, delicate and subtle, the TrianguliZona sound is likely to become the soundtrack to that special road trip. It grabs us, sooner or later.» - Eduardo Chagas

Latest addition to This Side Music’s roster, irishman Mick Chillage, an avid music lover for decades and long-time contributor to the underground electronic scene in his homelands, beatifully crafts his inspiration and influences to create three fresh sounding analog tracks which retain their old-school character while they keep an open eye to the future. Eye on the City sets off electro-style with its acidic bassline and breakbeat rhythm paving the way for the melody and a huge bass synth to kick in. Keep in mind that this melody may stick in your head for a while! Next up, Project Echo sounds exactly like one should expect; filled with echoing synths and a so-deep bassline along a filtered detroit rhythm section that invite you to join their dubby soundspace. The last track on the EP, Altitude, promises to get you as high as you let yourself; and it couldn’t miss with a soft & nice melody like this.

i like when the strings can be seen. (i believe it’s called metafiction, a kind of metalanguage). when children play “let’s pretend”, using the past tense to speak of what they are still about to do. when a painter doesn’t hide “pentimenti”.
“Funny Thoughts” is a showcase of hypotheses for songs. in this six-packed collection you can find tunes that can be whistled, if one wishes to do so, together with thought-provoking chords progressions and interesting rhythmical parts. listen to them more than once, if you really want to catch them, because they’ll try in every way to escape you. forewarned is forearmed.

Neben dem Titelsong, der eine Vorabveröffentlichung aus dem kommenden Album “Icon in Eyes” darstellt, wurde eine neu eingespielte Version des 2004er Clubhits “Children of the Night” aus dem Debut-Album “Negative White” auf die Single gepackt. Dazu gibt es einen Videomitschnitt einer Live-Performance des Songs “Thousand Ways to Die”. Ebenfalls zum Download gibt es ein passendes Artwork für die Single zum Ausdrucken.
