If new-wave, the late 70’s to early 80’s genre of mostly synthesizer/guitar-driven music that was somewhere between pop-rock and goth, should make a return to popularity as it appears to be trying to do, The Search have certainly released a(nother) 12-song resource for how to do it right. Following the lead that bands like Interpol have taken, there are more bands today beginning to embrace the style that The Cure, The Chameleons, The Sound and even Joy Division originated. Technology has taken us far past the point at which these bands first started to digitally experiment, but on their 3rd studio album “Deranged Minds Unite”, The Search have backed off today’s available resources just enough to create something that sounds vintage new-wave. What is amazing is how authentic The Search sounds. The band takes what was cutting edge twenty years ago and somehow keeps it fresh, and without sounding silly. The music is lush and polished, while Razmigs’ vocals are dark and lovely. “Deranged Minds Unite” sounds smooth and tuneful, with more hooks than a tackle box, and the production is excellent. Listen with an open mind, and you may just surprise yourself.

In February we discovered another time fabulous music from all over the globe. Listen up! With Iambic² we glide through coloured Indiepop-soundscapes while Ronny Ragtroll confuses us in the beginning with some dazzling sounds to grab our feet later with a sweet downbeat-groove. In contrast our italian Trip Hop-Supergroup Mou rushes with us on drum’n’bass-beats on a dark vibe.
Than the horizont lightens up again with the russian duo Ambidextrous and Morkva. The Twombley Spiders give us a sweet taste of a bright future while we prepare ourselves for the club. Whether it be the electro-beats by Pirata from Chile, the complex TechHouse-Music by Sudio or Frank Biedermann… We rock to electronic music. And hey, the party aint’t over, because Intelec, Martin Dot and Umisetsu prepared a delicate afterhour for us to see the raising morning light!
Than we look back again on the cover-illustration by Jeannette Corneille and smile thankfully for 82:34 minutes of lush free music. We wish you a good trip, listen well and enjoy our compilation.
- “Dust Below The Ground” from Iambic²
- “And There She Was” from Ronny Ragtroll vs Erratic
- “Chaleur” from The Incognito Traveller

Bye & Thank You.
Incredible vision and producing skills - it is the right way to describe third apperance of Terminus at our label. Mixing around ideas from many electronic styles - from techno to ambient - makes this release an unique masterpiece. If you ask Terminus about most important individuals that inspired him at the beginning of his music life, he will mention Cristian Vogel at the first place. And the spirit of Brighton’s genius appears along the whole EP. Also the idea of track titles (like Vogel’s “In Absolute Time” i.e.) must be regarded obviously as a tribute to Terminus’ mentor.

This remastered CD contains 2 mini-albums that The Search recorded in 2004 and which have never been officially released until now. The 80’s postpunk and British indie music slowly but steadily make a comeback. Bands like Interpol, Radio 4, Astral and The Stills use the musical heritage of the 80’s in a refreshing way in their modern alternative music. References to The Smiths, Suicide, Joy Division and The Cure are hip again. Now we have something hot again with The Search. Sweden’s newest export, The Search, proved with their debut album that you don’t need to be noisy or extravagant in order to do the job. Their sound brings to mind influences from eighties bands such as The Cure, Joy Division and Sad Lovers & Giants. The band combines a very crisp wavy guitar approach with a classic rhythmic backbone consisting of bass, drums and keys. Their prog-post-punk sound makes the experience of listening to this album one that you wish to repeat over and over. Throughout the album the powerful strums of the bass and synthesizer, absolutely separates their music from other bands-being their strongest element. Overall, this is a good post-punk tune that builds nicely to a climactic frenzy then fades out slowly. Don’t miss out on this one!

To start the year 2008, EssentialReload proudly presents to the world French artist Aureliene Riviere, also known around us here
in London as DoubtingThomas. Random Seasoning ep is the first of a series that somehow represents our vision of electronic music as a product of our lifestyle. You will find those tunes rolling, slapping all time, dry and repetitive. Stylish, robotic voices appearing here and there, flying around your head and sticking carefully among intricate groove lines that start and never end.The entire ep is dark, funky and ironic. Meanwhile Descartes is a watery piece of minimal music, deep tool for afterhours time, Things to do is psychedelic all the way through but never looses the funk with a “Cabanne” style beat that will also involve clubbers at earlier times. Prolongation is glitchier, full of noises that harmonically break the continuous flow driven by a bright bass line that begins already in the introduction of the tune. Loads of projects and quality music are expected to come out from this artist and we definitely recommend you all to watch out for DoubtingThomas. |

| EssentialReload finally presents the first ever released ep by Pablo Tarno aka Moforize: “Sculpture melodic”, a wide mixture of different genres of electronic music, combining musical aspects suitable for dancefloors as well as for home listening.EssentialReload06 shows a blend of dub, techno, house and trip hop, and will surely be appreciated by all the scenes involved. The ep starts off with “cockroach introludend” which merges different song structures into one song (intro, interlude, end) taking you through a short dark, Detroitey and dubby journey that smoothly fades out taking you back to reality..”Ain’t ur funkin’ business”instead is a powerful tune more directed towards the dancefloor, offering a strong dance beat “Mr.Pink” is a slow dub track which offers a very deep, devastating bassline with some intelligently layed out toms and pitch-shifted high hats. dark and moody melodies are the main aspect of this song, with occasional vocals enhancing the whole journey. Number 2″, finishes off the ep. A house tune filled with percussive delays, Nu and Old-school elements that together create a perfect danceable groove for elegant envirovments. EssentialReload highly recommend this young lad that will do some damage very soon.. |
