My first mix this year and it’s a fat one! Packed with 36 nice tracks, I can say this is one of my best selection. Please don’t just listen to the first songs, it’s worth until the end! More than 1 hour!

Dj Gammer aka Márton Frei was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1982. He always loved music, he was collecting cds from the age of twelve – in the first few years mostly pop and rock and then he got known with Jean Michel Jarre’s musical artwork and he suddenly started to listen to electronical music. He tasted a lot of styles and partys like jungle, breakbeat, drum ’n bass, trance, techno and in 1998 he faced goatrance which he found so impressive that it overshadowed all other kinds and became by him a lifestyle. In 2000 he started to deal with the turntables, first he played goatrance and later fullon. In the beginning of 2002 he performed his first dj set on a party in Hungary. From the year 2003 he caught the taste of new progressive sonority and began to play progressive trance. Soon he played on huge partys with the most impressive artists like Son Kite, Magnetrixx, and so on.
In 2004 he was founder of the No Man’s Land Festival. After the success of the 2005 edition of the No Man’s Land he decided to quit „normal” life and subordinate everything of his carrier as a dj and festival organiser. Since 2006 he playes quite rude minimal and electro stuff in the local clubs and partys in Hungary, and regularly visits foreign partys eg. in Ukraine, Slovakia, Bulgaria or the United Kingdom.
He’s main references are No Man’s Land Festival 2004, 2005, Ozora Festival 2005, 2006, Tschamla Kingdom Festival 2006 and the Minimal Mayhem in 2007.

Indeed, Dan’s first multiple track release is featuring six pieces - not to forget the four additional remixes - which undoubtedly go very well together, and which at the end of the day make this set of tracks feel like a neat little debut album.
Dan is a real minimalist, somewhere inbetween electronica classicism and minimal house. Hardly to imagine that you could strip down a rhythm more efficiently down to its very basic sound bits and bytes, while being hopelessly in love with innocent melodies.

Daniel was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He currently resides in Halifax, which is also in Canada, but closer to the ocean.
He is influenced in music by a many different artists, including Boards of Canada, Ricardo Villalobos and Radiohead, among countless others - and equally, infectious Nintendo game tunes embedded in his mind during his childhood.
‘We Go Very Well Together’ is his first multiple-track release.

ropeadope’s own dj logic put together this mystery mix of old-school funk, hip-hop and totally random shit. “i was just hanging out in the studio in between sessions and i had all my show records with me, i just started spinning them for the engineer while we puffed some la, watching the springtime clouds roll across the new york skyline”.
good thing for us, the engineer in question (rob brand) was recording it. listen now. recommended for: cleaning the apartment, barbecues in the backyard or a long drive to nowhere.

I recall reading a story in elementary school where Gatling locked himself in a basement for two weeks to create the light bulb. After much work, he did succeed and upon leaving his basement found out that Edison had already invented and patented the light bulb. I don’t know the truth of this but this release is a similar case. For two years, Illusion of Art attempted to write a soundtrack to this movie. The first attempt at this soundtrack was lost in a hard drive crash, the second was inferior, and then this was done. Upon finishing, it was found out that everyone else already wrote a soundtrack to this movie.

This soundtrack was created to sync up with the version of “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” currently available on the Internet Archive though the echoes of the music extend a bit past the movie. The music will not sync up with the proper 65 minute version of the film. Instead of recording it scene by scene, it was recorded as a whole. It was recorded in real time with the movie in one take and mistakes were left in.

Many of the themes used in this piece come from the ‘lost’ Illusion of Art album, “Ganapatya Sophia.” Hopefully, this will not be the last soundtrack by Illusion of Art.

CANNIBALS is an álbum produced by the peruvian noise artist Jab Lemur in June of 2007. Its a colage of sounds, as he calls it, “a Sonic Safari” based in the travels of Theodore Roosevelt in Africa. Its a concept álbum, a history of cannibals and killing around the construction and deconstruction of sounds, it’s also a cannibalistic way to produce an álbum, reciclyng sounds and giving to them a new way to be, the way of the point of view by the artist. Maybe the message of CANNIBALS is life itself and how we coexist, some times the violence is a way of expression, that is how we became cannibals too, or simply serial killers of the day after day.
