Josko aka Giorgio was born in Rome 31 years ago.. He spent 15 of those researching spaced-out music. In 1992 he did his first dj set, with 10 vinyls, and a lot of tapes from radio stations. Nowadays he performs in some festivals around Europe and underground urban parties under London’s surfaces. His sets have had several transitions and inputs, developing during the years into a single-minded djing concept able to interact with deep techno clubs or ”off-world” chillout rooms , always.. trying to shape the future and discover the next step. Also involved in Indica Music, he collaborates with Neurobiotic Records , and he was the mind behind the alternative stage at Sonica, an Electronic open-air Music festival.

Minilogue have always been very interested in the visual aspect of their art, it is natural for them to create an visual image as well as an audible one. For many years they have thought of animals as the front for Minilogue. These animals do not actually exist as pets. They are mystic, imaginary creatures, merged together from different species. They function as symbols for Minilogue’s approach to electronic music as a mix of different genres and styles. The production of the album was a notable effort: It took Marcus and Sebastian three years until they were entirely happy with every bit of “Animals”. In order to create something timeless, they quit working on the tracks from time to time and returned with virginal ears. The result couldn’t be more striking: The dance tracks remain powerful and humble, the ambient tracks are subtle and bold at the same time. Minilogue’s music is emotional jet not moody. While contemporary electronic producers tend to get lost in layers of sounds and reverb, “Animals” is spring-loaded and nimble. Tracks so humble, effective and elegant they stream unremittingly into the listeners ears. The music stretches out towards the horizon in a gesture of unmitigated desire: a desire for wideness, a desire for sound, a desire for the elementary beauty of techno.

They are all good (240 releases/9GB of music), but I reviewed and directly linked the best of the best :-)

At the bottom of the post, you will found a link to a big .jpg (kahvi_releases_nicely_rated_for_you_by_eldino.jpg) done with iTunes and containing all the ratings, song by song + correct tags (album, song name, genres).. a sort of download guide for Kahvi catalogue :)

I hope my work will be useful for some of you :)

Marmix delivers another excellent combination of the present, past and future, with a couple of Tunes from the Friendly Fire EP, some firecrackers from DJ Die and a few unsigned tunes from the likes of Project Red and Facing Jinx.

“Dangerous Rituals” is a recording that attempts to depict the feeling of going through some of life’s more dangerous rites of passage, lessons learned the hard way, times in which the most innocent creatures must take little a blackening of their soul for the sake of growth and greater development. It is a soundtrack to to some disturbing, enthralling, nightmarish times in my not-too-distant past.

Though one long piece, “Dangerous Rituals” is comsposed of three subsections; “Tunnel of Propaganda (Flat Hearing Field)”, “Minefield (Fourth Day Visual Hallucinations)” and “Red Phosphorus (An Endless Succession of Collapsing Pathways)”

In this recording, certain distorted voices seem to speak ill of you in your very presence while others urge you to continue to do what you cannot resist. Harsh digital noises represent visual misinterpretations of overloaded optic nerves and saturated neurotransmission environments. Slowly growing and mutating beats depict time and places that provide only momentary autonomy but that don’t stay peaceful for long before disintegrating into chaos.

The end result: the listener feel as though they have been through some sort of hell, but regrets nothing.

Welcome to Desert Vibe

Greetings.

Desert Vibe is the name that I use for my new dj sets. I have been making a lot of mixes lately that include creative commons and open source artists. A lot of whom I have found available here on the Internet Archive. A lot of this music is designed to be spun by djs and is engineered to be mixed with other songs. As a dj I can’t listen to this music without wanting to mix it. I think of the songs as words and the mixes as sentences. I love this music and the creative commons and open source music scene.

So I found myself wanting to make a contribution to try and help it to grow. I am hoping that these mixes will present the music the way it was originally intended by the artists. I believe that a dj set can take a collection of songs and take them to the next level. I believe also that this can help people to hear the music. I enjoy making these mixes and hope that you will enjoy hearing them and that they will help to bring greater visibility to these artists. Steve Paul

Note

I had just discovered all of this amazing music online available under a creative commons license.

I was a bit overwhelmed with the quantity and quality of the music. So I thought I’d make a mix attempting to showcase these artists. That way I could share what I’d found with my friends. I wanted to include as many artists and netlabels as possible. I wasn’t sure where to start, so I picked a BPM and decided to make it a dub-techno, dub-house mix. This is that mix and I have put it online here in the hope that it will help to promote these artists and labels and introduce even more people to the wonders of creative commons licensed music.
