DJ Polaski showcase. Kahvi sound sessions #4 is the latest in the podcast series from Kahvi resident DJ Polaski. A fantastic mix with some of the classic Kahvi releases.

‘Kahvi sound sessions 004 is here. Brioskj kicks us off with a nice electronic looping track followed by some softer ambient tones and atmospheres. To turn things around I made a delightful mashup of workbench and jugi to switch the mix into downtempo mode. From there on its smooth sailing. Mikael Fyrek (in “St. Mare Abelle”, one of my favorite tracks) and Sektor end the mix for the week.’

Yeah pure chill :P

The history of the relationship between man and machine is a history of symbolic interpretation and design of this relationship. But on the third volume of the Ultra Dark Radio-Compilation it has less to do with omnipotent feelings than with the contrast of various musical genres.

So on the first part of the compilation mainly machines are running their riot during the second part brings handmade guitarsounds to the fans’ ears.

With that, all contrasts had been shown anyway which came up in the collaboration between both I-Net Radios Ultra Dark Radio and darkeRRadio, and it’s going on for 2 years now. First of all complementing each other in an exceeding way.

And so there are with Taxim, Wynardtage, T.H.Industry, davoS, Decence, Warforge, DEN.C.T.BUG, Isis Signum feat. Sara Noxx, davaNtage, Dolls of Pain, Advocatus Diaboli, Arts of Erebus, Curious, Heavy-Current, Mystigma, The Pussybats and Reptyle – and many more damn cool bands – no unknowns on the compilation. Bands and artists which both have found their solid place on the stations are contributing here with unreleased tracks or exclusive remixes of their songs.

‘Man and machine’ or as the colloquial language tells: ‘Opposites attract.’

Yosuke Kamihigashi, a.k.a, acht. Born in Tokyo Japan, 8th August 1983. His interests towards Art was awakened and stimulated by being close to his grandmother who was an Ikebana instructor.

He started to study in art school to explore the ‘essense of expression’ and there he encounters ‘Minimal Art’. Touhaku Hasegawa, Frank Stella, Mark Rothko and Christian Boltanski, are some of the artists that influenced him greatly. He also respects a techno music DJ, Richie Hawtin.

By listening to the tunes that played in the club, he was given a hint of ‘self expression’ within his music. In 2004, he started his carrier as a DJ as well as being a painter. After his graduation in 2007, he started to compose. Today, he puts all his energy to shape his view, principle and thoughts as art works and sounds.

Rope Swing Cities kicks off its Communikey Festival of Electronic Arts Super Duper release extravaganza in fine style with the newest album from longstanding RSC cohort, Loafeye.

A Valid Life, Loafeye’s third full length for RSC, continues the artists exploration of the darker, more bleak side of electronic music. Fusing supressed hissing and mournful synth pads with subtly jarring drums, Loafeye has carved out a particular sound to call his own. In his compositions, the mysterious Loafster draws on many influences while staying true to his own musical aesthetics.

The music of Loafeye calls to waking up from the dream world, feeling confused and lost, unsure of oneself. IDM music for those darker moments, not of anger, but of longing and frustration. With Loafeye though, there is always the lingering feeling in the back of ones mind that the world can still be a wondrous place, bathed in the warmth of the sun. Loafeye fans will not be disappointed, while new listeners may discover a new love. Enjoy!

Form more on Loafeye, as always, poke your head over here.

And, hey, take some time to look at the Communikey Festival of Electronic Arts featuring a relaxing afternoon showcase of all Rope Swing Cities artists at the wonderful Trilogy Wine Bar. Maybe we’ll see you there!

Stay tuned all week for new releases!

This is already the 20th release on Earmin and is it is an amazing one. This release of Dutchman Rivo has all the elements of dark, deep and minimal techno. Very less use of rhythms and only small sophisticated changes. Gloomy sounds, dark spheres which does remind me the most of the releases of the respected Basic Channel label and some influences from the releases of Marko Fürstenberg. Just another high quality relaese on Ear!

Beat Doctor presents two house tracks featuring sidechaining and electro house influences. “The Piano Tune” features a simple yet irritatingly catchy piano riff, pumping house beats and a driving, gritty synth line. “Too Retro” features 80s influenced rhythms combined with a house kick, thumping bass and electro house synths, adding old skool rave stabs and effects. Both tracks are in full DJ friendly format.

“Our Souls Are Electric” by Brokenkites (2008)

Excerpt:

“Stick me,” I say, teeth clenched, breathing the sweat out through my screaming lungs. I’m so ready to burn in here. “Do it now,” I demand.

There’s a fire in the back of my skull where the communications port is jacked in. The sweat doesn’t help. The itch. The screaming inside of my head as I attempt to reconnect with thousands of lost souls, with hundreds of thousands of terabytes of memories - not memories of data, you know, but the real thing: childhood birthdays and car crashes and first kisses, all converted at once into seemingly infinite rows of zeroes and ones. This is always the part that’s hardest to get through, the breaking point, for most, the addictive adrenaline surge from getting stuck. And I’m sweating the beast off.

“Amp it up; give it more gain,” I’m demanding, though the voice I hear doesn’t really even sound like me, not anymore. I open my eyes for a second and catch an impressionistic smear of worry across the tech’s normally expressionless face. Fuck it. No one else will take it this far. No one else will touch NSI’s equipment; even less would hardwire it straight into their heads. Even if you can find someone crazy enough to gamble it all by going this far, you sure as hell wouldn’t find anyone willing enough to amp up, for chrissakes.

“Amp UP!” I scream, but I wonder if she can even hear me at all. I wonder if I’ve made a sound besides the cracking of the teeth as I grind them against themselves, waging war against my own body for the sake of what… I’m wondering, and the light is coming, and I reach for it even though it’s going to kill me… And then I’m through.

Dead on arrival.

All tracks written, sequenced and produced by Mesh Gear Fox.

The Second release from Mesh Gear Fox, again, a fine classic piece of work. Below are notes provided by M.G.F.

Hi there! Thanks very much for downloading my second album, “The Future is So Bright, It’s Making Me Blind” In the three months since my last album I’ve learned a little bit about the technology I’m dealing with and I’ve done my best to apply this knowledge to my songs.

I was fortunate enough to be able to produce Atmosphere, Flashlight, Birdcage and Snare Rush Assessment using Ableton Live 7, however there was an issue with the crack and it stopped working after a month, completely destroying my hopes to make the whole thing on Ableton. (All other tracks were made with FL Studio 7 and Cool Edit Pro 2.) Nether the less, I’d like to thank team AiR for cracking it in the first place, even if it wasn’t 100% successful.

All tracks were produced from mid Janurary 2008 to mid April 2008, so the whole thing took place over three months while I was still 16. I use a number of VST plug-ins synths and effects and samples (some of which are home-made). No pre-set synth patches were used in the making of this album, as they were all programmed or modified by me. I used a minimum number of copyrighted samples this time around. The few copyrighted samples that were used were distorted and twisted so much that it would be useless to credit them.

Remember, this album is free! If you paid for it, you were ripped off and should give the person that sold it to you a good punch in the head. Share it on Soulseek, upload it to your blog, use it for the soundtrack in an amateur porn flick, whatever! Just leave all the tracks as I’ve labeled them and include this document and that’d be great.

Lastrapink grew up in Venezuela, and from an early age was into playing instruments and studying harmony with his music teacher Emilio Mendoza. He was impressed by the acid underground music that was brought to Venezuela from London so he decided to travel to the UK to learn English and to perform his own music in various UK parties and clubs. Soon after he made the jump to Berlin to work with people such as Phlex, Vertical 67 and the Hasenland krew, and to play alongside such luminaries as Plaid, Jega and Modeselektor at RockPaperScissor parties.

Since then he has also been playing gigs under the name ‘Andromede’ with his partner Q Squared, playing at parties in the UK and Berlin. He is currently taking his acid sound to his home land of Venezuela by running his own events.

The luminescence EP is a selection of tunes made in the Uk and South America; a unique combination of European acid and South American electro vibes.

If you like electronica with an acid touch,, :P

Lokua (Joshua Keckner) is a master of melody, texture and mood. Many are yet to experience this musician’s full scope of ability. Lokua’s earlier works consist largely of down-tempo instrumental hip-hop. Recent works branch out to include a large scope of electronic genres with a significant amount of dance material. Lokua’s sound is characterized by the richness and sincerity of its emotional content with even the danciest of tracks retaining a deep, cerebral sophistication.

A Chicago native, Lokua has fully embraced and embodied his environment. His sound is deeply rooted in the city’s music and social history and his countless live performances are imbued with contemporary yet authentic and raw Chicago culture. With a back catalog of tracks hovering in the thousands (including a number of conceptually-complete albums) and new ones being produced daily, we can look forward to a great variety of music releases in the near (as well as distant) future.
