Entheos Audio Archive 1.0 features a blissful assortment of intelligent psychedelic downtempo and visionary ambient electronica from the west coast of Canada and the United States. It was originally compiled by Akhentek of the Entheogenetic Label Group and released on CD as a free gift for all attendees of the inaugural Entheos summer solstice festival and conference in 2007.

The high-resolution artwork included in each package doubles as the festival map and stage schedule; this should give you a feel for the event. Be sure to check out the Entheos web site for information on this year’s gathering, to be held on the Sunshine Coast, B.C.

Attune kicks off with the title track, a straightforward jammer of a track with a swing on the bassline and melancholic pad.

The second track, Head Rush, is a little darker with Stevie’s signature chord progressions and super clicky hats and percussion. Uhu wraps up the originals with a fun and funky little number.

Measax strips it down on his remix of Attune. Newcomer Emory Emlyn get’s shaky on his interpretation of Head Rush and Jeffrey.S rounds out the back end with a percussive rework of Uhu.

Jay Sosa, with his InHuman Project, mixes references as diverse as: synth-driven soundtracks, the most experimental side of industrial music, 90s breakbeats/downtempo, fractured n’ multilayered beats/ noises and fx’s from IDM/ Noise scenes, electronic crossover rock’n'roll and even the current 00s electrotechno.

Its one more release at the label that doesn’t rely on a single music era/ style; in contrast, it comes to reinforce the “for listening and something else” essence of the psicotropicodelia, presenting different ideas from one track to another.

The video for “Nihilist 1978″, done by Jay himself, comes as a bonus and brings more impact to this great track: “carpentesque” synths, a strong groove and sonic textures which get glued to the braincells ;].

Created by mid-2004, The InHuman Project is the result of lots of hash, nacho snacks and B movies.
The InHuman Project 2008(EP) is out after one year of pre-finalization, bringing a really diverse electronic sound influenced by trip-hop, breakbeats, electro and industrial.

This week on the RA podcast: a rambunctious party mix from UK duo The Count and Sinden.

Joshua Harvey and Graeme Sinden are the London producers behind The Count and Sinden. Perhaps better known under their solo guises, Hervé and Sinden, the duo have brought their warped dance music sensibility together to craft one of the 2008’s most insistent singles, ‘Beeper.’ The earworm can be directly traced back to The Count and Sinden’s love of everything from Baltimore club, hip-hop, electro, Miami bass and grime.

Baile funk, dancehall, bassline house and plenty of other genres also factor into the stop-start podcast that they’ve crafted exclusively for RA. But The Count and Sinden don’t care all that much about genre tags. Their goal is simply to rock the party—and in this rambunctious mix that takes in Bjork, Armand van Helden and South Rakkas Crew, that’s exactly what they do.

Born in 1981 Cotumo grew up in a small German state close to the French border called Saarland. Since the age of 14 he was strongly into early trip hop, nu jazz & dub, which still greatly influence his style today. At the age of 18 Cotumo started exploring more of Germany, when he finally settled in Berlin. Nowadays, Cotumo enjoys the Berlin skyline at the rooftop of his new flat there, while discovering more and more of the vast electronic scene around him.

Inspired by artists like Matthew Herbert, Akufen and Metro Area, Cotumo began thinking about sharing his music through playing in Clubs. Finding his alter ego ‘Cotumo’, he started sampling and mixing with the open source software hummingbird when he became acquainted with Andreas Toelle and Alexander Kothe. In spring 2004 they started a club series called skikt! at the Neue Berliner Initiative (NBI), where he performed live, playing styles from click tech over dub to tech house.
