While living in Detroit during the 90’s, Daniel Bell created a new musical vocabulary for techno music based on “Blips” and “Bleeps” and streamlined repetetive rhythms. His music went on to influence a generation of producers from Josh Wink and Richie Hawtin to the minimal house sound in Germany.

Netaudio 2008 will take place in London this autumn. Here’s the official announcement:
Netaudio’08 will take place from 22nd to 25th October 2008 at Shunt Lounge, London SE1. It will celebrate the creative output of networked musicians and online communities with talks, workshops, showcases and performances.
Netaudio’08 will play host to a broad range of live musical acts all the way from well established musicians through to undiscovered new talent – the only criteria is that they sound good and that they engage via the medium of the Internet. Musically Netaudio’08 will provide a programme spanning genres and cultural boundaries and embracing the widest possible selection of sounds humming through the Internet.
Within the conference side of the festival, Netaudio’08 will explore the creative practice and merit of digital networking tools. Workshops will share knowledge about music production and digital distribution whilst presentations will take a lead in the discussion of altered user behavior in the networked society – both aiming to engage the thought provoking process of music production, distribution and consumption in an age of networked communication.

In his new Ep GabeeN slows down a little, with a more minimalastic sound, and a totally fucked up percussion line, but he is operating with the subbasses what we are like about his music. The first track (Escape), has a catchy “percussion line”, a melodic, happy, but after all a genuine lead, and bass.
The second song (Wanted), what was given the name of the EP, has been made in the same feeling like the previous one. At the beginning it’s have a delayed-to-pieces bassline, and an eardrumrocker kickline greets us. It’s a bit happy, and a bit sad track.
The next one (B-2) is have a serious intonation, what is a bit quicker, twittering minimaltechno. The fucked up snares, and percs, here won’t stay away too (but in an obligatory character, we can find these sounds in all of tracks, and this is what I liked the most).
A bit more stamping kick, a bit more twitter. At the end (B-52) we can here the best track of the EP (maybe), where we can find a scratchy, but for real a good bass, and theme.

Cyclotron is the debut release from Goblin Records, a Slovakian psytrance netlabel founded by DJ Osku in early 2008. Osku emphasizes Slovakian content but this compilation also features material from Ukraine, Portugal, Italy, and the Czech Republic. The sound is undeniably underground, drawing inspiration from dark psychedelic trance and forest music without following any of the standard formulæ too closely. The mood is predominantly eerie rather than sinister; this compilation has a strange ambiance that sets it apart from many of the other releases on the market. The cover design by Genaro is particularly striking but this release does not appear to have been professionally mastered. Despite being a little rough around the edges, Cyclotron is worth a listen for fans of the darker side of psytrance, particularly for the enchanting downtempo finale.
Cyclotron carries no explicit licence but the back cover states that this is a “free compilation for free spirit.” It is safe for non-commercial usage. Be sure to provide proper credit should you share it or use any of these songs in a mix.

For a brief time, this recording was one of his best selling CD’s. And it’s now available for those who might be interested in listening to his first instrumental release. There are some nice moments if you are able to move past the imperfections of this humble release – writes Ken Verheecke.

«As promised, we’re back with another excellent work from Entia Non - aka James McDougall from Australia - called ‘Lilt’ (check out the previous one released last year). Like the previous one, expect to listen to lots of juicy field recordings from australian whereabouts artfully mixed with soothing ambient tones and drones of rare beauty, and also organic backgrounds to complete. For this release, James went to capture new sounds to some well known ’sand islands’ located on the eastern coast of his enormous country, namely ‘Stradbroke Island’.
‘Oxide Pearl’ and ‘Littoral Glades’ are my favorites and the ones that best capture Entia Non’s essence of ‘australian ambient/field recordings’ work. Warm and dense backgrounds, moist and organic f.r. full with birds singing and water flowing and daily familiar voices and sounds. There’s not many more to be said to fairly describe what you’ll hear (or are listening to right now through our flash player), so if you please, head straight to the download link.
