Etienne Michelet is a young composer and musician from France

After his self-released works “Bleu Vespéral” and “Le Piano à Coudre (The Sewing-Piano)”, this is the first release of his ongoing “Calendaires”-project, which moves in the fields of minimal, ambient, experimental music and classical music.
This “Calendaires”-release contains two parts, both together over 50 minutes long. Part one begins in a very dark context. Deep, growling bass sounds coming to the surface very slowly, bringing some motives and melodies with them. All these parts are layered together to a monumental and threatening wall of sound, which collapses and falls apart into a deep and dark soundscape again. Part two brings more light to the listener. Little chime-pieces lead to a wide field of melodies and sounds rushing around, bringing back memories.

What is Sublime Porte ?
The name Sublime Porte is derived from the term “Sublime Porte” which was used for addressing the Divan (court) of the Ottoman Empire. Sublime Porte is the literal french translation of Bab-i Ali which means lofty gate . This particular term was used in the context of diplomacy by the western states, as their diplomats would be welcomed at “porte” . As a name for our label it conveys our aim for standing as an eminent source for modern electronic music .
Who Are We ?
We are a team of creative individuals from Istanbul TR .We intend to infuse our eastern influences with the western oriented genre we produce . Considering that different experiences cause different inspirations , the music that we produce is unique in the way that it incorporates the various elements of our diverse culture and the impressions of modern practices . Our conscious intention is to investigate the boundaries of modern music while we subconciously appeal to our roots where centuries of cumulative art and ideology have been collected. As artists we are focused on expressing ourself, where as a label we try to amass artists who offer great ideas and professional executions of those ideas. Therefore each of our artists supply a distinctive sound while every release guarantees the same exceptional sonic standard.
