One of the signs of rising insanity is a growing gap between outer and inner reality. Watching too much news, you might feel like you’re trapped in a madhouse. While some media like to portrait certain parts of Berlin as being fairly violent and threatening, Dub One! does the one sensible thing, steps outside his door and puts himself in the picture.
Relaxed he strolls through his quarter of Berlin-Kreuzberg, drinks some chai at the Indian place on the corner, grooves along with a djembe-combo as he passes by, meets up with some of his friends for a red, yellow and green time in the park to finally end his day in a dim bar with some fine jazz.
Much like a lot of different cultural influences mix up to make his everyday life a chilled-out and inspiring overall experience, on his first solo-release on iD.EOLOGY Dub One! shows that he knows how to connect very different musical elements so they form a fascinating ensemble. Reggae and dub meet jazz and hiphop for a sitar-jam and get along with each other so fine that you might think they have never been doing anything else.
Sounds mad? Maybe, but you best believe it’s realer than real.
