If the netlabel scene/electronic music scene would have an internationally represented Documenta (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Documenta) in which the contemporary techno pieces could be shown for the expert public, Pablo Gallo’s Coal Extraction EP could be the one of these pieces.
Presence of complexity, extreme deepness and plasticity is remarkable in the songs while they can preserve their persistent style. Alloy of noise, industrial and break-tech is the opening Coal Extraction, without the well-konown standards, followed by the break-techno of Hand Made, built on subbass modulation and fine breaks and effects.
The Start of The End is a more lyrical dubtechno/tech-house hybrid piece compared to the previous ones with strings, distorted pianos and a whack of melancolia.
The ending, Viernes13 is a worthy completion of this ageless compilation. The track made with the precision of the soundtrack-writers has a short intro and after that it slopes down in very deep noisebags with slow, low-key rhythms and dense, heavy atmosphere. Brilliant stuff!
