Radio 1’s Essential Mix returns to the now legendary Warehouse Proejct in Manchester for an exclusive back to back set from Ed Banger’s DJ Mehdi & Busy P, recorded live at the Chibuku party.
We’re not gonna lie: we don’t know exactly when this is from, or even where it’s from (though we’re working on it – there’ll be a tracklist coming too hopefully). But it features LaRoux, and it sounds pretty crisp, so we’d wager it’s a new Vitalic studio mix. [...]
The American Dream Team’s Code-D has put together a new mix filled with originals, remixes and exclusives by Kill The Noise, Treasure Fingers, Naughty By Nature, Black Noise, Reid Speed, Hot Mouth, Monster Squad, Proper Villains & much more. We’ve mentioned this crew many times before and as usual they offer something special with Blue Dream. Check it.
From his apprenticeship at Basement Jaxx’s Inside Out club, Graeme Sinden has continued his upward trajectory through the world of bass, with a Kiss FM radio show, Get Familiar Fabric residency, Count and Sinden LP (due out early next year on Domino) and a busy DJ schedule taking up plenty of his time. The Count and Sinden’s new single, ‘Strange Things’/'Elephant 1234′, drops in December.
The Hot Chip and Greco-Roman co-founder mixes up this week’s RA podcast.
Joe Goddard has been a somewhat inescapable figure of the past few years. As vocalist, percussionist and synth wizard in Hot Chip, he’s seduced listeners from both rock and dance spheres over the course of three albums, melding live instrumentation and electronics with an irresistibly twee aesthetic. The group have always been interested in the dance floor, as proven by their remarkably diverse additions to the Bugged Out! and DJ Kicks catalogue, mountain of remixes and hectic DJing schedule, with Goddard spinning records either solo or alongside his Hot Chip companions.
Such is his love for underground dance music, in fact, that Goddard decided to go it alone and produce a body of work that distils what he’s loved about dancing to 2-step, Dutch electro, classic Warp material, Chicago house, and many more styles on his debut solo release, Harvest Festival. His RA podcast is similarly angled and covers many of Goddard’s musical loves, traversing from hip-hop to funk via a healthy dose of house and current bass music sounds.
Although he’s been making noise as a DJ and producer for years, 2009 found Brooklyn’s Dre Skull expanding his sonic range into the worlds of hip-hop, bounce, electro, and dancehall. He’s also founded his own label, Mixpak, as an outpost for his own productions.
Drugstore is a DJ collective of 6 Spanish artists. The name says it all: This is a massive one! After a relaxed start you should better fasten your seatbelt. Are you tough enough for this?
Pre-party promo – “Killer Robot is proud to bring you the next in our continuing series of the worlds best underground electronic artists, Scotland’s Alex Smoke. For anyone with even a remote interest in electronic music over the last seven years, Smoke has become synonymous with advancement and quality and his prolific output has found its way into the sets of djs across genre divides from techno, to electro to glitch and beyond.
With remix work for Kid Sister, YO Majesty, Trevor Loveys and Busy Signal and an EP soon coming on A-Trak’s Fools Gold label, GreenMoney – Alex Phountzi, formerly of Bugz In The Attic and yOyO mainman Leo Greenslade – GreenMoney are coming through. If you need more, check their weekly radio show Sundays on Ministry and via Brooklynradio.net. More here and here.
Molez was captivated by the dark atmospherics and futuristic sounds and in 2006 met up with one of the members of the Sympton Crew (an organisation responsible for pushing diverse electronic music in Subotica). That member was Noiz, who noticed that they both shared a similar musical taste. From that meeting, Molez joined members Dekode, Drum:R and Noiz to spread the Sympton sound through Serbia. Thanks to Dekode’s electro, IDM and dubstep records Molez grew interested in producing 140bpm paced music rather than producing drum & bass tracks. His productions are characterized by deep and sci-fi soundscapes. [...]

Recently Galaxian performed this live PA for Sub City Radio up in Glasgow, Scotland. He sent me his recording of it and it’s bloody fantastic. It’s a combination of his tracks, re edited and arranged together with brand new bits and loops and what not. Most of it he says, doesn’t even have names yet.

Reso stunned us recently with his forward-thinking Heavy Arms EP, pushing the boundaries of dubstep with his futuristic, innovative sound. Elements of garage, 8-bit electro, breaks and more all mash-up within the EP to make for a seriously fierce sound – and this podcast is no different, skipping through styles effortlessly. The 25-year-old has been getting much love from Radio 1’s Mary Anne Hobbs for almost 3 years now, and has scored serious acclaim for his remixes for the likes of Buraka Som Sistema and Jamie Woon. With a debut album promised, it’s a very exciting time for him, and we think he’s one of the scene’s most exciting producers. Lap this up and crank it up loud.
Mutate Records’ label boss Unique 3 is prepping the release of Mutations 3.0, a sprawling 10-track sampler brimming with cuts from The Enemy Within, Alex Graham, Super Deejay Bobzilla, Underpass, George Lanham, Christian Woodyatt, Auddie, Bibhas and ADSR.
