word… I found an old mix the other day and added it to my mix page – check it…some folks might have this already, it was from the blog relaunch a few years back.
No kidding I only just realised the significance of the first track. It didn’t occur to me when I made the mix, but it works so well now.

it has passed a little more than a year from the moment when we started making our podcasts. during this time we had the mixes from both ukrainian and foreign djs and producers. and we crossed the line of first ten issues. if we take into account the numbering of podcasts, then the new decade of our broadcasting we decided to start with ourselves – the three mixes, each of which reveals a piece of musical taste of each propaganda resident. we’ve prepared here something to listen to and something to dance to. enjoy!

Viya, the live performance band which frequently takes to the stage in clubs across Taksim / İstanbul and a lot of festivals in Turkey. Viya means ‘body surfing’ in the Laz language. Formed in june 2008 with Zeynep Türkmen on Violin; Özgür Çakır on Guitar and Sound effects; Barış Demirel on Bass Guitars, melodicas, vocals; Aydın Türkoğlu on Drums .The group is best known for its keenness for improvisation and utilizations with folk, jazz, rock sounds. They just work on their job in a narrow music market about their genre. Their genre doesn’t solely comprise eastern culture. Also they use tunes from northern europe and usually use measures 9-8 and psychedelic components . Sometimes the band makes surprise with adding their brothers on different instruments for the live shows. Viya the band which moves with fellowship of Oppa Tzupa Zound Zystem. So they are proceeding with their brothers. Now, they are working on materials for their first album (planning for september 2010).

Turn on, tune in and drop out with this out-of-ordinary selection of psychedelic covers. Expect musical hallucinations, changes of perception on classic tracks you thought you knew, adventitious synesthesia, an altered state of awareness of pop culture, some mystical rediscovery of your inner well-being, and a bit of slight psychosis concerning this Molesting Laura series and its broad use of music covers. This is heavy shit for the cultural and intellectual elite of Paris DJs‘ secret order. Is there anybody out there?

Paris DJs Soundsystem – Who Is Molesting Laura ? (part 8)
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2009-08-26
We received many messages of hope that we’d keep on accosting, assailling, abusing, disturbing and more maltreating of our dear Laura. Here’s the JAZZ take on the story. If you’re into tasty covers of classics, into Jazz or even into Sly Stone, you should find the kind of stuff you enjoy, in this soundtrack to the life of a perpetually molested girl!

T.I.M.E.C. honchos Grant Phabao and Djouls have recorded at least half a dozen more Molesting Laura episodes for this podcast series of the Paris DJs Soundsystem. This new one is centered around instrumental interpretations of famous hits and classics. Once again, please leave a comment on the the Paris DJs blog if you want us to stop molesting the dear Laura. If on the other hand you enjoy the tasty selection of covers the Paris DJs Soundsystem are gathering every month… Then just leave a message of hope that we’ll keep Molesting Laura on and on and on and on (and on)…

Paris DJs Soundstem – 21st Century Latin Vol.4 (Latin Funk)
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-08-20
The Latin scene is vibrant in Europe. Quantic offered at the beginning of the summer a fantastic new album on a Columbian tip. Don’t miss his live show with his Combo Barbaro in Paris on September 12 (Le Bataclan). Electic new albums from Black Grass and Dub Pistols are filled with marvels in all styles – latin grooves included. Palov and Mishkin come from Greece and their latest CD has been spinning all summer in our stereos. Skeleton is the new project from Brighton’s jazz master Nostalgia 77, rising the bar with each new release. An afro-latin piece will first be available on the upcoming Impossible Ark compilation out early october via Unfold/Tru Thoughts. Spain is here too with an extract from the vibrant Achilifunk remix compilation from Lovemonk records. We’ll def play more tracks from this one in the future! More spanish soul jazz vibes from Spain are featured with The Jivers and their swinging song taken from the latest Jazz and Milk Records compilation EP. I’ve grown to the habit of buying this German label’s vinyl release systematically and haven’t been disappointed yet. More German latin funkiness comes next from Una Mas Trio and Mo’ Horizons, both on the Agogo label, another one to be followed closely. We close the mix as we started it, with an artist from Brighton, Black Grass – his third album is so full of hits I regret buying it on CD only.
…More ’21st Century Latin’ music to come soon in these pages…

this mix was put together for 2 reasons, to celebrate the launch of mark cotgrove’s (snowboy to you and me) new book on the uk underground jazz dance scene between the 70’s and early 90’s’ - ‘from jazz funk & fusion to acid jazz’ in the book he pays tribute to artists, dj’s and dancers. heavily featured is the influential dj, colin curtis. since he started dj’n in the 60’s colin has stepped easily between northern soul, modern soul, jazz, jazz funk and soulful house. his knowledge on music is awesome to say the least. i have the pleasure to call him my friend. the second reason therefore is to provide a sample of the jazz he was playing at the time and you may then understand what a great time we had attending venues such as blackpool mecca, the ritz all dayers (manchester), rafters (manchester), and the berlin (manchester), plus others. he still djs up and down the country at soul venues and including with us at any fro-disia session. we hope you enjoy it. all comments will be passed on to colin – teecee

Just like the first one, this is some funky shit, on a suiting-up-montage tip and some climactic-fight-scene-ripping-through-all-the-bad-guys-like-butter type of grooves, finishing up with some says-something-sassy-and-cool-like-’Always bet on black’-and-drives-off-before-the-credits-roll beats. Ya feel me? It’s cinelmattic beatsploitation.

Malcolm Catto is considered by some as the best funk drummer in the world. The driving force behind The Heliocentrics, he’s also worked with DJ Shadow, Connie Price and the Keystones and Yesterday’s New Quintet as well as releasing solo work…
The second show, taken straight from the dusty vaults of Mr Catto’s personal vinyl collection, joins the dots between his work in The Heliocentrics and pieces by Ennio Morricone, Tyrone Washington, Psychedelic Aliens and Organized Konfusion!

Paris DJs Soundsystem presents Laura Vane
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) T.I.M.E.C., 2009-07-21
Laura Vane has been a dynamic presence in the UK music scene for some time and has worked as a vocalist for major artists Gnarls Barkley, The Streets and Omar. She can also be heard as lead vocalist for several soul, jazz and dance projects like Diesler, Part-Time Heroes, Hint and Hardkandy. After all these collaborations, the time has finally come to concentrate on her own material. Meeting The Vipertones helped realise this vision and made it entirely possible. In less than 2 months their debut album was written and recorded. It’ll be available in August, 2009 through Social Beats/Unique. Meanwhile here’s a 30mn affair presenting Laura Vane’s recent work…

Paris DJs Soundsystem – Do The Tighten Up
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2009-06-11
Tighten Up was a summer 1968 number one R’n'B and Pop hit single by Archie Bell and the Drells from Houston, Texas. It sold a million copies by May 1968. The song described an accompanying dance that the band had invented, also called the Tighten Up. It’s one of the most addictive early funk tracks ever, and has been covered and played by everyone from Maceo Parker to The Bamboos since then. Here’s a 30mn blended selection of our favourite funk and latin versions…

Some of you might remember the end of year 2007, when we put up an
Unfabulous Megamix from Brighton’s 21st century post-breakbeat funkster
Flevans. We were celebrating the lad’s second album released on the
Jack To Phono label. Since then we had many
thank you feedback from people delighted to have discovered those authentic new grooves.
Flevans will be back on May 8th on his former label
Tru Thoughts with a new album,
27 Devils, that’s been playing on repeat on my CD player (along with the upcoming
Quantic one). He cooked a brand new exclusive mix for
Paris Djs to help announce it, with many recent but rare releases in the lot, 45s, 12 inches, bootleg re-edits, etc. Enjoy!

i’ve been waiting for this for a loooong time. here it is. a very special mix courtesy of my good friend and ain’t no new thing partner mr sidney fordhammer!
starting off with a killer version (versions being a sid ford speciality it must be said) of one of my favourite ever stevie tracks, it brings the funk, brazillian and some extra special beauties including the raucous the taking of pelham one, two, three… pop this mix on and you are guaranteed to have a shuffle around your front room.
to catch sid completing his whirlwind tour, come down to ain’t no new thing at filthy mcnastys on friday 24th april to help us celebrate one year of ANNT and 60 years of the 7″. we will also be joined by nottingham based 45s toucher wrighty! not to be missed.
