The Berlin-based Montrealer gets funky on this week’s RA podcast.
House and techno may not have been Guillaume Coutu Dumont’s first musical loves, but all it took was one night of electronic music under the stars to make him realise the potential of the form. Before that fateful night with Julien Roy (who he went on to produce with as Egg), Guillaume preferred the use of live instrumentation over sequenced sounds, playing percussion in funk and jazz bands, but that evening was to change his outlook on composition and performance forever. ha, finally paris dj’s podcast is back, i love the smell of old tunes in the morning.

He’s a highly respected Parisian keyboard player who played with Seven Dub, The Last Poets, Emilie Simon, Tanger, Erik Rug, Paolo Apollo Negri, Kid Loco, Grant Phabao and many others. He’s just released his first album on Freestyle Records called Nothing But The Truth. He’s perfect with tea or coffee… He’s the Soul Sugar and he’s asking to all Hammond Organ lovers out there: Have you had your vitamine B3 today?!

Zoe.Leela presents her brand new EP “Queendom Come”. Experience the seductive and smooth voice of the Berlin singer, songwriter and actress Zoe.Leela.
When describing her style of music, it is something called New Plastic Soul. “Queendom come” is an EP which is saturated with the fragmented spirit of international cities. Porous jazz influences, urban hip-hop salutes, and sober, electronic sounds reflect the structured chaos found within an international, musical metropolis. rec72 is psyched up to deliver the new album by Zoe.Leela to the masses! Her masterpiece of urban sound is ready to enter the many dance floors and mobile devices out there.
Additionaly Zoe.Leela presents some of her older songs as well in order to disclose her background.

word… I found an old mix the other day and added it to my mix page – check it…some folks might have this already, it was from the blog relaunch a few years back.
No kidding I only just realised the significance of the first track. It didn’t occur to me when I made the mix, but it works so well now.

The point is that I am no longer Domu. He is a character, always has been, and as of Friday 13th November 2009, he no longer exists. Neither does Umod, Sonar Circle, Bakura, Yotoko, Rima, Zoltar, Blue Monkeys, Realside or any of the other names I put out music under. I am cancelling all my gigs and not taking any more. My hotmail is closed, my Twitter is closed and my Facebook is closed. If any of you want to talk to me and know me well enough to have my mobile number then that is still the same, and please feel free to call any time. My other email address I mail from occasionally is still open to tie up any loose ends.

it has passed a little more than a year from the moment when we started making our podcasts. during this time we had the mixes from both ukrainian and foreign djs and producers. and we crossed the line of first ten issues. if we take into account the numbering of podcasts, then the new decade of our broadcasting we decided to start with ourselves – the three mixes, each of which reveals a piece of musical taste of each propaganda resident. we’ve prepared here something to listen to and something to dance to. enjoy!

‘Tom Fahy’ was an assemblage of musicians headed by multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and County Galway native Tom Fahy, born Quinn McCarthy (1971-19 June 2008). Core members included Jiang Dan, Rachael Eisley, Zhang Li and Liu Kaige, while other players were drafted for the requirements of particular pieces. Their 50+ album catalogue was the fruit of a 9-year collaboration initiated while the core members were in residence in Honolulu, Hawai’i. To each album, the members brought a myriad of musical competencies.

Earth Mantra is proud to welcome Greg Hurley to our roster of artists, with his beguiling and ground-breaking new album “REVOLVE”.
Clocking in at nearly 48 minutes of continuous music, this is without a doubt a longplayer; but this is very unlike any other ambient release we’ve ever heard. In fact, the music lays somewhere in the hazy boundary between ambient, electronic, instrumental rock, and even jazz, combining elements of all but without committing to any one genre. It is precisely this fusion of styles that makes this album such a refreshing treat. [...]

now i don’t proclaim to be a jazz aficianado, but i do have a deep love for jazz music and all it’s varying forms, so it took me a long, long time to select the tunes for this mix, i thought about a straight up jazz mix but decided to go off on a tangent. i’m rather pleased with it………..and i hope you are too.

Third volume from Malaventura Inner Planets series. First was “The secrets of the Moon”, later “MARS” and now it’s the turn of Mercury with “Mercury Exosphere”, a track that melt the jazz rhythms with the electro, the minimal with the funk in a long theme always progressing, restless, until the surprising ending.

Meanwhile I finnish the next EP “Earth/Tierra” (last chapter of the “Inner planets” series) here is a little gift to everyone to enjoy malaventura music, discover how everything started…
Released in the Summer of 2003 and re-released now under Creative Commons license, this record was a compendium of track selected from the earlier works of the spanish musician, Malaventura. Produced between 2000 and 2003, mainly with the mythical Akai Mpc2000 and a bunch of vinyls from the flea markets, here is an example of sampledelia, mixing hip-hop with jazz or samba, put in in the same game the tijuana brass and a record of religious chants or marrying the batucada with dark ambient. Simply delightful.
