this mix was put together for 2 reasons, to celebrate the launch of mark cotgrove’s (snowboy to you and me) new book on the uk underground jazz dance scene between the 70’s and early 90’s’ - ‘from jazz funk & fusion to acid jazz’ in the book he pays tribute to artists, dj’s and dancers. heavily featured is the influential dj, colin curtis. since he started dj’n in the 60’s colin has stepped easily between northern soul, modern soul, jazz, jazz funk and soulful house. his knowledge on music is awesome to say the least. i have the pleasure to call him my friend. the second reason therefore is to provide a sample of the jazz he was playing at the time and you may then understand what a great time we had attending venues such as blackpool mecca, the ritz all dayers (manchester), rafters (manchester), and the berlin (manchester), plus others. he still djs up and down the country at soul venues and including with us at any fro-disia session. we hope you enjoy it. all comments will be passed on to colin – teecee
Capisconne Electro Unity is a band from Zagreb, Croatia.
This music is product of different tastes into a harmonic collective improvisation. This sound is relaxing, chillout and jazzy..
The playing from these guys is pure live experience, without overdubbing.
They have gigs in many places in Croatia and the near Balkan area.
The band leader is Capisconne aka Ivan Kapec, jazz guitarist and founder of the experimental band TrianguliZona, which had released an EP Flossy, for Portugal Netlabel Test Tube.
He collects young Croatian musicians who were graduated on the Jazz school of music in Graz, Austria.
Activity… Every place, every song bring his own picture..

I always had a great time playing @ Longe Cafe, Novi Sad. If you wanted to relax or dance with great crowd, or simply to have chit chat with your friends, Lounge was there. I had many nights there and many of them I recorded as mp3 mixes since I performed with my laptop. This is my first recorded live performance @ Lounge, over 6 hours of great deep house, nu-jazz, lounge music.
Another really nice mix by Cup of Jazz, keeps us going this morning! –> Download HERE. Catch the guys on their party on the 31st of May 2009 @ Klub der Republik Berlin beginning 9pm!
PNFA is the creative audio and video output of Wolfram Gruss’s mind. He was born on July 07.07.1980 in Wasserlos, Bavaria, Germany.
In 1992 he bought a used Commodore Amiga 500 from a friend for 400 Deutschmarks and on one of the hundreds of 3,5 software inch disks labelled “Amiga Apetizers” a simple composing software was stored. This finally opened up a real possibility for Wolfram to let out the so long collected ideas and since that time he produces different kind of electronic music like Drum´n Bass, Breakbeat, House and Techno.
In 2004 he started studying Media Production in Darmstadt and since he was always a very visual person, too he now focuses a lot on design and film making, but still continues publishing tracks on mp3 portals, compilations and works for labels like Fiberlineaudio.com, MYX Records, Merging Records, Deepwise, Arteqcue, D’lectable etc… He already made tons of remixes and worked out soundtracks for theater plays as well as for the fashion company René Lezard since a couple of years. Page hits and song plays reached 7 digit numbers already and PNFA can be found almost everywhere in the internet. Meanwhile there is no limitation in the genre of electronic music, even though it is mainly aimed for the clubs with a focus on house, nu jazz, breakbeats, triphop and drum’n'bass. Still the PNFA trademark is a deep, brilliant and very often dark sound. To be continued…
Dollars to Pounds : Mixes by Paul White & Bullion (The Fader). Yes, it’s featured for the second time, but these mixes are killin’. Especially the Bullion mix.

Trip-hop, nu-jazz, and breakbeats with some oldies flavours, from some movies or jazz tunes… This “Innocent Magician” gives us fourty minutes of enjoyable sound travel.
Common set of compositions that we have created with friends.
Each of us creates a different type of music, therefore, the result is the album that contains such stylistically diverse works.
hi all. new fro-disia mix is available. this time around it’s been compiled by our good friend glen worthington who’s made some nujazz selections from his collection. love the fukotomi track. got my copy from a great series of compilations called brazilectro, well worth checking out guys think they’re up to volume 11 now. cheers glen.
iambic aka Guy Andrews is back with his first release of 2009 entitled “Echos”. The EP captures a much more live sound than iambic’s previous works, fusing electronic and traditional instruments together to build rich electro-acoustic textures and melodies. This EP lies somewhere between nu-jazz, post-rock and iambic’s own aurally evocative ambient style and has already received excellent feedback when performed by Guy and his live band.
The long awaited debut album from the Athens based talent, Gone (x3), is finally here!! Seize these superb, phat beats; surf the groovy basslines; catch the sunny, titillating vibes; feel the smoky jazzy arrangements and enjoy the feel of a summer atmosphere!
