Born in 1981 Cotumo grew up in a small German state close to the French border called Saarland. Since the age of 14 he was strongly into early trip hop, nu jazz & dub, which still greatly influence his style today. At the age of 18 Cotumo started exploring more of Germany, when he finally settled in Berlin. Nowadays, Cotumo enjoys the Berlin skyline at the rooftop of his new flat there, while discovering more and more of the vast electronic scene around him.
Inspired by artists like Matthew Herbert, Akufen and Metro Area, Cotumo began thinking about sharing his music through playing in Clubs. Finding his alter ego ‘Cotumo’, he started sampling and mixing with the open source software hummingbird when he became acquainted with Andreas Toelle and Alexander Kothe. In spring 2004 they started a club series called skikt! at the Neue Berliner Initiative (NBI), where he performed live, playing styles from click tech over dub to tech house.

remix, re-edit was the idea of the dayday-ep by funkzelle (ccrec_mp3_002), but the final result is more than that. born are five new tracks. for this project we welcome two new and three well known artists on ccrec. starting with in vitros “friend” interpretation. discover his point of view of a melodic, most beatless experience. in vitro from mexico is best known in the scene for his avant garde mixtapes, for example on sonic walker and his great album “phantastico dogma” on kreislauf.org. for the second track we welcome r:dgt66 from germany with his idea for a “complex”. a slow deep house track with clicky sound-fx. third track is our “friend” from canada, jeff willett, showing us what minimal moment_house is all about. more bpm in the last part of the ep. be a “lunatic” on the dancefloor with the funkzelle re-interpretation of their own track. stomping beats and hihats filled with vivid melodies. finally senuelo makes your “dayday”. listen in a club or in your car when you drive through the night-city skyscrapers and take a look towards the red filled clouds. enjoy…

It was 5 and half years ago since we last featured Brad as a guest dj on DR and yes, this mix was most definetly worth the wait. Many of you know Brad through his tracks on Moods and Grooves, Little Angel/Harley and Muscle, Altered Moods, as well as well as self-released material in the 90’s.
This mix is a beautiful and smooth excursion into the detroitish deep house sounds - surprising, dynamic and addictive. Mark my words - you’ll be coming back to this mix time and time again.

this is for sure my last mix for year 2007… and I wih to finish this year with a special showcase to one artist very active in the netlabel scene,
D. Soul ( myspace link ) ( discogs.com page ),
(Daniel Tischer), born 1977 in Wiesbaden, Germany, now living in Frankfurt, started to make his experiments with electronic music in 1996. Inspired by Frankfurts famous Techno Club “Omen”, the sound of this time and its DJs he presented his first attempts as a DJ at some private parties in his surroundings. In 2004 he organised houseparties with friends in a club called Metro, where he also spins the records around. To implement his activities in music he also began to produce at this time. In 2005 he founded the netlabel tropic.
As a musical principle, d.soul always try to produce and mix a kind of minimal, coloured and vivid music, that gets a very own special taste.
After this little presentation of this artist, here we are a mix that try to give you a journey to D.SOUL music… and soul !!!

white in music und arteqcue, zwei netlabel die noch gar nicht so lange existieren und dennoch schon einige interessante veröffentlichungen im archiv haben.
beide projekte haben wahrscheinlich genau so viele schnittmengen wie auch unterschiede. stilistisch gibt es kontraste und punkte an denen man sich sehr nah ist.
mit der parallel veröffentlichten candid ep schaffen beide label eine verknüpfung und aus den gemeinsamkeiten entsteht etwas neues.

Holometabolous therefore is the first work of this producer who has so much experience accumulated in his career, being a dj intention to select music for the audience of dancefloor obviously knows what he wants and what direction to take to arouse emotions.
1DERL& begins a journey driven away in the territories of the former Berlin’s dub tech now with a taste for the sounds most dirty, now coating of minimal techno everything.
Energy of old school was combined with simplicity to the vibe of today’s minimal techno, putting but by the sterility of certain minimal sound connotations that often takes more from clinical diagnosis that emotion from the dancefloor.
So green light to low rough and dirty and rhythmic solutions more decided.

Since 2005 Dr.Nojoke has been working on technoid sound-sculptures based on his archive of self-made noise-recordings he collected over the years. He defines a deep, funky, minimal, quirky, clicky micro-cut-up-music, he calls Clikno. Always with an experimental approach in production Dr.Nojoke relinquishes the conventional rave-signals and typical Techno sounds (as the TB303 or 808/909 drum machines). He prefers to play with his own sounds and attaches great importance to the de-composition of usual harmony- and melody-schemes; He dislikes stereotypical sounds and hooklines. Although his sounds come to 95% from the acoustic, real world, he forms highly technological Clikno-music, which may not carry emotions in itself, but triggers and unleashes them.
