This is already the 20th release on Earmin and is it is an amazing one. This release of Dutchman Rivo has all the elements of dark, deep and minimal techno. Very less use of rhythms and only small sophisticated changes. Gloomy sounds, dark spheres which does remind me the most of the releases of the respected Basic Channel label and some influences from the releases of Marko Fürstenberg. This week on the pod, Sascha Dive provides some deep vibes.

If you want to talk about truth in advertising, look no further than Sascha Dive’s label Deep Vibes. Dive began the imprint in 2006 and has been focused on releasing the deepest house he can find (or produce) ever since. Clearly, young Sascha has his finger on the pulse: along with Oslo and Drumpoet Community, Deep Vibes has quickly become an acknowledged leader when it comes to the revival of deep house in Germany’s club scene.

Production-wise, RA’s Ronan Fitzgerald has pointed out that Dive is nothing if not straightforward: track titles veer towards the descriptive: ‘Deep in Rhythm’, ‘DEep’, ‘Deepest America’ and the music is similarly functional. The key to Dive’s appeal, as Fitzgerald points out, is that Dive never lets things get sterile.

On his RA podcast, you’ll get much the same: Dive works his way through a 72-minute set that doesn’t so much have peaks and valleys as it simply floats along with cut after cut of dark and, yes, deep vibes—whether he is spinning Dan Bell’s old-school minimalism, Manny Diaz’s svelte and sexy ‘Sleezy, Please Me’ or Moodymann’s funky epics. Be prepared to get hypnotized.

How did you get into electronic music?

I got my first contact with electronic music in the early ‘90s. My brothers gave some tapes with the hottest shit from the UK, like DJ Duke, Culture Beat, etc. Really multifaceted music. After that, I decided to go to some clubs around Frankfurt like the Robert Johnson, Monza (old Monza). Another big influence was the Freebase record store.

When and why did you start Deep Vibes?

I started Deep Vibes in 2006. The idea for the label was to bring out some really deep and dark US house inspired tracks.

What have you been working on recently?

I’m working now on the new Deep Vibes Recordings release, the Basic Collective EP Part 3. I hope it will be finished before summer. I also just finished remixes for The Asphalt, Two Amadillos & the 1.000.000 Remix for Goldwill.

Where / how was the mix recorded?

The mix was recorded at my label office. I used two Technics SL-1200MK2’s, a CD player from Technics (SL-DZ1200) and my Allen & Heath Xone 62.

Latest addition to This Side Music’s roster, irishman Mick Chillage, an avid music lover for decades and long-time contributor to the underground electronic scene in his homelands, beatifully crafts his inspiration and influences to create three fresh sounding analog tracks which retain their old-school character while they keep an open eye to the future.

Eye on the City sets off electro-style with its acidic bassline and breakbeat rhythm paving the way for the melody and a huge bass synth to kick in. Keep in mind that this melody may stick in your head for a while! Next up, Project Echo sounds exactly like one should expect; filled with echoing synths and a so-deep bassline along a filtered detroit rhythm section that invite you to join their dubby soundspace. The last track on the EP, Altitude, promises to get you as high as you let yourself; and it couldn’t miss with a soft & nice melody like this.

Nacido en 1987, su nombre real Guido Hernan Salvatore. Comenzo con el sonido electronico a los 16 años. a sus 18 años comenzo a mezclar en su casa con compacteras + un mixer, hasta que despues se vio interesado en producir musica electronica con softs, comenzo usando el Reason 3.0 donde saco varias producciones comenzando con un sonido progressive house bien dark. Luego fue experimentando demasiado hasta encontrar su sonido, dejo de hacer progressive y arranco a utilizar varios estilos y subsestilos dentro de sus temas hasta llegar a hoy dia a producir Minimal Techno. Sus producciones ya fueron utilizadas por varios djs tanto del exterior como del interior de su pais. Hoy ya en dia maneja mas soft como el ableton o SoundForge para su edicion. Su recorrido por las pistas comenzo en bares y clubs pequeños, tocado en lugares como CLUB ZONE, BAREHIN, WHITE ROOM y el CODO. Luego fue contratado para tocar en el exterior en mendoza donde alli toco en los clubs MALABO, GEO y OMERO. Siempre ha trabajo en las pistas con “Du Sant” un dj y productor con el que compartido cabina desde haciedole warm o b2b. Hoy en dia continuan sus fechas en clubs o radios y continuan en la busquedad de sacar un sonido perfectamente unico en sus producciones.

Swoon is a multi-instrumentalist and has played in a lot of groups and is used to play a lot of different styles. His first release is a full album with ten tracks on it. Archipel, for it’s 37th digital release, is happy to welcome Zentex to its roster who brings us “Fiilis”, four slabs of extra swingy, smooth funk for your contortionist heart.

Title track “Fiilis” is a solid ever growing formation of warm fuzzy funk. Reverberating chords carry a delicate and detailed border or tightly woven glassy shards which all wraps around a puchy field of low end feeling.

“Tino” winds a wire of swing even tighter still around snappy rolling elements and molten plastic vocals on an ultra heavy bed of low slung wobblets. “Ruoska” takes a distinctively more hypnotic and spacey route where evolution and repetition reign strong, accented with paranoid vocalizations and slinky, heady acidic moans.

“Ask Who” is a bending slice of psyched funk with squelchy timbres encapsulating only the deepest and warmest of substances.

We are proud to present you our latest release from DJ Lab one of Copenhagens top DJ’s!- Because of the great competitiveness in his city, Anders Brøndum aka DJ Lab has built a high standard of quality for his sets and prooves technical skills in his own productions which he already put out on labels such as echocord or tic tac toe.

Lab’s style took off as straight up banging minimalism but has developed considerably over the years. Today, his arsenal ranges from Detroit techno over trancey Cologne’ism to minimal house and Dub. As long as it’s quality, it’s playable.

From 1998-2000 he was a regular name in the Roskilde Festival lineup – playing for thousands and thousands of ravers at one of Europe’s largest music festivals.

By 2000 his credentials had brought him a monthly residence on the National Radio of Denmark. From 2004 and onwards, he’s upheld a residence at Copenhagen’s largest club, Vega – and since its opening in January 2005, internationally respected electronic club Culture Box has put Lab on the lineup numerous times.

The 30 something ep is packed with 3 beautiful Dub tracks starting off with “Libra” which was the favorite track of all of us including sean o’neil (someone else) on this ep, followed by “Spookers Dub” which is indeed a little spooky, but really unique and funky. The last track called “third shift” is very hypnotic and is more club oriented than the other tracks. all in all a great ep for everyone who is into minimal and dub!

Ethernet’s first release came out from tanukidreams.
Brightly opening track “Orgonite” is what he calls “triple-time or waltz time” house. The EP turns into deeper side with “Midsummer High Jinks”, atmospheric ambient techno. “Whistleblowers” keeps its mood as fast and deep, didgeridoo-like synth appears in the latter half. Closing this EP is a Flow Dub version of “Orgonite”, completely non-beat and chill-out.
