Tcsh - driving & flipping… Tcsh is track that seriously involves everyone who hears it into a new kind of looking through the ‘electronic-music glasses’. Stop, drop, roll! – This song gives out directives as it was some kind of a smooth & up-running drill sergeant whose manners are polite & intentions are good, yet there’s something about his approach that doesn’t add up to the whole “nice & shiny” picture.

There was a time when, shyly, a word travelled the late ’70s innovative sound paths.

The new Halo XVI work is this: ambient music in its purest form, a receptacle where to lay down, during the whole 5 tracks, our loads of imaginative dreams.
Gianpaolo Diacci aka Halo xvi, artist coming from far away, owns as a music passion the stringed instruments: giutars, basses or Chapman Stick, which he magically plays hopping like an elf. Especially live with the band RAN, whose is the proud bass player.
A tipical musical education, a past marked by new wave sounds, which dissapears inside Daydreaming given the extreme precision in describing a landscape wholly inhabited by electronic particles: lonely trasmitters of an ambient message oneiric programmed.

Yosuke Kamihigashi, a.k.a, acht. Born in Tokyo Japan, 8th August 1983. His interests towards Art was awakened and stimulated by being close to his grandmother who was an Ikebana instructor.

He started to study in art school to explore the ‘essense of expression’ and there he encounters ‘Minimal Art’. Touhaku Hasegawa, Frank Stella, Mark Rothko and Christian Boltanski, are some of the artists that influenced him greatly. He also respects a techno music DJ, Richie Hawtin.

By listening to the tunes that played in the club, he was given a hint of ‘self expression’ within his music. In 2004, he started his carrier as a DJ as well as being a painter. After his graduation in 2007, he started to compose. Today, he puts all his energy to shape his view, principle and thoughts as art works and sounds.

This is already the 20th release on Earmin and is it is an amazing one. This release of Dutchman Rivo has all the elements of dark, deep and minimal techno. Very less use of rhythms and only small sophisticated changes. Gloomy sounds, dark spheres which does remind me the most of the releases of the respected Basic Channel label and some influences from the releases of Marko Fürstenberg. Just another high quality relaese on Ear!

Lastrapink grew up in Venezuela, and from an early age was into playing instruments and studying harmony with his music teacher Emilio Mendoza. He was impressed by the acid underground music that was brought to Venezuela from London so he decided to travel to the UK to learn English and to perform his own music in various UK parties and clubs. Soon after he made the jump to Berlin to work with people such as Phlex, Vertical 67 and the Hasenland krew, and to play alongside such luminaries as Plaid, Jega and Modeselektor at RockPaperScissor parties.

Since then he has also been playing gigs under the name ‘Andromede’ with his partner Q Squared, playing at parties in the UK and Berlin. He is currently taking his acid sound to his home land of Venezuela by running his own events.

The luminescence EP is a selection of tunes made in the Uk and South America; a unique combination of European acid and South American electro vibes.

A new guest artist - Meso - arrives today with a nine track ep. A little more hardcore idm in places than previous kahvi releases, Meso brings out the colder and darker side of life in Eastern Europe with the arovane-esque ‘around 492′, a classy imitation of lackluster style in ‘canadian 2′, and my personal favorite for its curious composition ‘jenapart6′ (check out the percussion!). Brusque, exciting and interesting, ‘Tunga’ is an intriguing and well produced ep, a worthwhile addition to the kahvi collective.

“I am a stone - thrown into a sea of love.” - diese Worte, mit denen das zweite Album des Hamburger Produzenten Björn Ischo AKA FeldFunker beginnen, zeigen schon, worum es geht. Da fühlt sich jemand entfremdet, erdrückt von der Absurdität des Lebens. Das Absurde und die Entfremdung, das sind die Schlüsselthemen bei “The Absurd Hero”, das sich als sehr freie Interpretation des Existenzialismus nach Albert Camus versteht.

Abstrakter, minimaler und kälter als im Debüt-Album “Beyond The Moon” behandelt FeldFunker den absurden Widerspruch zwischen der menschlichen Sinnsuche und der Unerreichbarkeit dieses Ziels und gipfelt schließlich im Abschlusssong “The Mountain” mit Camus’ Erkenntnis: “Der Kampf gegen Gipfel vermag ein Menschenherz auszufüllen. Wir müssen uns Sisyphos als einen glücklichen Menschen vorstellen.”. Eine Versöhnung mit, ja, Liebeserklärung an die Sinnlosigkeit.

Stilistisch ist wie auch beim Vorgänger Vielfalt angesagt. Von Detroit-ähnlichem Minimal Techno über Dubstep und Ambient bis zu brachialem Breakcore ist in den 9 Tracks vieles zu finden, wobei Zugänglichkeit und Tonalität eine eher untergeordnete Rolle spielen - das Thema bestimmt klar den Sound, dessen eigenwillige Ästhetik vor allem von sehr schmalbandigen, scharfen Sounds, kurzen Decay Zeiten und eigenwilliger Interpretation des Stereo-Raumes geprägt ist.

“Der Weg zu Sisyphos’ Gipfel - zur Katharsis - ist keine süße Melancholie, in die man sich einkuschelt wie in eine warme Wolldecke, sondern oftmals einfach nur schneidende Verzweiflung und sterile Einsamkeit.” erklärt FeldFunker den konzeptionellen Unterschied zu “Beyond The Moon”.

“The Absurd Hero” ist ein ausgereiftes Konzeptalbum für den erwachsenen Hörer, das auf in diesem Genre seltene Art Verweise quer durch die Geschichte der Philosophie mit tanzbaren Rythmen und nachdenklicheren Klängen kombiniert und dem, der sich auf diesen Trip durch den Hades einzulassen wagt, unweigerlich in seinen Bann zieht.

With sweet 17 Innsbruck based analog fanatic Krowley launches his first 4-track-EP. Instead of becoming a Schönberg piano prodigy, he found his love in experimental electronic music, but always flavoured with a very special organic ambience. His sound‘s an oscillation between dubstep, electronica and downbeat with heavy influence of acoustic instruments under reference to renaissance music.

…scendo lentamente gli scalini che mi portano dentro al sottosuolo, nel cuore stesso del silenzio. Impossibile però trovarlo ora, immerso nel baccano causato dall’uomo che si sposta, immerso dentro migliaia di sguardi che scrutano il minuto che ancora deve arrivare, figure amalgamate che si gettano quasi d’istinto dentro vagoni di una metropolitana che tra poco porterà anche me verso una destinazione per ora sconosciuta. Il vuoto tra le due rotaie crea lo spazio necessario all’irrompere del suono dell’acciaio trascinato ad altissima velocità, vengo proiettato dentro il vento creato dall’impatto del treno che si scontra contro il nulla nascosto nel buio della galleria e nel giro di qualche secondo mi ritrovo nel puro silenzio che solo il suono dell’onda mentale può creare, mentre sul visore lampeggia la destinazione: Muddy Notes/mono-drone kingdom.
Scendere, penetrare nel mondo sonoro di ‘mono-drone’ e come intraprendere un viaggio dentro le gallerie di una metropiltana virtuale che lentamente sfreccia attraverso le cinque fermate di un tragitto espressamente e deliziosamente elettronico: “Headed out” è pura essenza spaziale alimentata dal breve battito di una lontana stella cadente. “Holed sky” è riascoltare i live recordings di un dolcissimo lontano sogno immaginato sognando, è mixaggio metafisico del reale. La title track si muove con cadenza cosmica sull’invisibile beat di dimenticate percussioni analogiche.”One day off” è il rimbalzo all’indietro nel tempo, è lo sciogliersi delle note attraverso impercettibili movimenti meccanici. Subliminare il pensiero psichedelico in sequenze di teutonica rimembranza è il compito di “Brainwave synchronizer”: lontane vibrazioni elettroniche su cui danzare mentre i vagoni di questo improbabile treno sotterraneo sfrecciano dentro il suono…nascosto nel buio.
