A long time coming (too long in fact), it’s time for a new mix from me. During the last year and a half I never really stopped buying new music, nor did I stop mixing. But, making a mix I could publish here on DR seemed like a mountain to climb.

What happend I think was that I became too conscious about the end product and didn’t focus on the one thing and one thing only that matters in the end - having fun and enjoying the music.

So, with ‘Doldrums’ I just wanted to share music I’ve recently been into. I made a firm desicion to let the tracks play out their full lenght if necessary, just so I could enjoy making this without thinking too much about when to start a long blend into the next track.

Funny enough, think it turned out pretty well. There’s a good variation of styles, a few odd tempo changes here and there and a lot of amazing music. Overall it’s pretty relaxed, organic even.

I hope you all go out and buy the new album by Trus’me called “Working Nights” on Fat City Records, it’s THAT good! The bass is a little too hot on the last track but turn it down on your system. Feedback is always welcome.

Artur, who stays behind ROZA project, hails from Kharkiv, Ukraine, but nowadays he lives in Poland. All his music sounds, according to him, in a russian-kosmicshamanhypnocontactee style. Hell of a description, but it suits ROZA’s tracks very well.

What we really like about the album is that it’s almost impossible to characterize it in a matter of specific musical genre or style. This is the music which can be depicted in such terms as “good” or “attractive”, or “visionary” or “surreal” but not “rock”, “hip-hop”, “glitch”, “negerpunk” or whatever is usually on your iPod/Winamp.

The album starts with a deep, vibrant sound which reminds me the final dark electronic period of Coil magiciansmusicians. But soon the music turns into some sort of Tribal-Folk with a heartbreaking chorals, freakish oriental drum patterns, and blurred sitar/string melodies which flows in an endless ocean of acoustical noises. The more you listen to this epic ballade-intro, the more you realize that “GLitch ov Batumi” will settle down in your mp3-player for a long time. On the “Irenashvili djan” song you’ll have to deal with catchy overdriven acid flavored oriental broken beats a-la Muslimgauze. And on the “Mountings” you’ll be drowned in a deepest lake of abstract ambient. And the comprehensive title of “Drummers ov God” song needs no additional comments, I believe.

“GLitch ov Batumi” is definitely one of the best albums we received this year and we’re really happy and proud to share this music with you – we really hope it’s not the latest piece from the wonderful ROZA project. And he already promised to send us more stuff. Let the beat contact your body…

I meeted this guy at Eivissa puerto, Spain, after seven years, the first night of my week holidays, from 22 July to 29.

Sincerely I prefer to be honest, like ever, so I want to leave here a message.

This man make actually more and more of what is writed here, but for some reasons I must write little things, not more, …

I let you imagine, I’m talking to peepz, that really know how goes some things about high level music

After a deep speak toghether, and explain about netaudio/netlabels world, He decide to give me one Lp… we was really friends… and we still are…..

Andreas Florin was born on 11.07.1977 in Siegen Germany. When he was 15 years of age he became interested at electronic music. He became interested by listening to Members of Mayday and Cherrymoon (Bonzai!!). After years of partying in clubs like The Omen (!) and Aufschwung Ost he started DJ-ing. His idols were The Advent, Mills and other great names from the Detroit-scene. In 2002 he started producing and soon he has reached his own style of producing. A mixture of all kinds of techno-elements.

On this release he’s shows us more from his minimal side. But this minimal with an excellent drive in it. Heavy basses, driving rhythms and strange kind of samples. Enjoy this new release on Earmin!

Luca Bacchetti is definitely a force to be rockoned with in today’s house and techno scene. His background of soul, hip hop and even drum & bass has given him the right foundation to become one of the future international stars of Dance music.

Luca cut his teeth in the scene with a Radio show on club Culture, which gave him the initial notoriety and deserved push to start playing clubs in and around Italy. he later found a niche for himself playing and producing quality funked-up house and techno alongside his friend and radio show partner Antonio Pocai, which helped him getting noticed even further.

The thing that differentiate Luca’s work from the myriads of other producers out there is a strong identity in his music. His productions have the right amount of funk with a sprinkle of darkness and an essentially great groove which makes its tracks irresistible on the dance floor. Since 2005 he has produced several successful 12’s on Tenax Recordings, the label run by Alex Neri.

His real rise to fame came in 2006 with a stellar re-work of Bini & Martini - Stop, which was number 1 in the Beatport download charts for two weeks and was charted by many top Djs around the world.

ok, sorry for the radio silence peeps. but what better way to make up for it than a new ssg mix. the latest installment is from mike parker. to be honest, we came across mike’s work reasonably recently. we noticed a common theme in quite a few sets from donato dozzy and cio d’or - the best moments in these mixes were coming from records by mike parker. after a ssg reader noted that parker is a bomb dj, we decided he was definitely worth approaching for a mix. and luckily he agreed. the result is exactly what we hoped/expected: deep, dark and hypnotic. this mix is very reminiscent of steve bicknell’s lost/cosmic soundscapes. unique and special music that very few are capable of producing and providing. so grab this mix and get lost…

Housestep? Dubhouse? Whatever you want to call it, Appleblim’s got it on this edition of the RA podcast.

Those celebrants have been legion, but perhaps the most interesting have been the house/techno cognoscenti. Producers like Ricardo Villalobos and Radioslave have both made their love plain by penning original productions or remixing pre-existing tracks that straddle this new genre that has yet to been given a credible name. We’re not out to do it today. Instead, we humbly offer up yet another podcast that continues to sketch out the fertile ground being forged by both sides, whether it be in Shed’s remix of Radioslave or Shackleton’s glistening take on Geiom’s ‘Reminissin’. Whatever it is, Appleblim showcases it on his RA podcast with aplomb.

In the past year, Portland, Oregon, based SubSensory Recordings has becoming a driving force behind the area’s Techno scene with both it’s DJ roster and digital record label. Its’ current roster of artists includes Portland Techno legend George Holland, label founder JAK as well as Lil Roj, Primal, Cozmix Vixen, AO and Nathan Detroit. JAK talks a little bit about the labels history and its’ future plans:

“When I started SubSensory in 2005 my goal was to develop the framework for a record label and to push the Techno sound in Portland, which had fallen off considerably since the middle and late 90s. During the first two years things moved slowly, so I focused my energy in the studio and started the SubSensory website to help promote my mixes and tunes. I also began a guerilla marketing campaign using MySpace and many national and international EDM forums.

In 2007 this strategy began to pay off both in terms of visits to the SubSensory site and gigs. We started getting thousands of hits a month, my mixes were getting downloaded at surprising rates, and I began playing almost every weekend. I was booked in Seattle for the first time in years and also signed several original tracks on Portland based Akashik Records. I also started collaborating with Portland based hard-techno artist Primal, who had already released his own tracks on a number of international labels, and Louisiana transplant Dj Lil Roj. Roj, Markus (Primal) and I spent many Friday nights at the SubSensory studio mixing beats with beers and sharing ideas regarding the techno sound and its future.

In summer of 2007 Jak learned he and and his wife had the opportunity to work and live in Chile for 12 months. They didn’t waste any time in accepting the offer and in July 07 they found themselves living in Vina Del Mar a resort city and popular tourist destination on Chile’s central coast.

Moving to Chile gave me a new perspective, more time to spend on the label and time to reflect on the scene in general. I quickly saw that Chilean artists faced barriers similar to those faced by Portlanders. Specifically clubs who were resistant to techno, low pay for Djs, isolation from the international dj circuit, and a lack of cooperation between local artists. With a little luck I hooked up with some good people and had the opportunity to play many of the areas top clubs and parties and to collaborate with several local producers. I also took my first serious look at the digital music market, which I had previously shunned. Something I came to terms with in Chile was that although I prefer vinyl, many aspiring international DJs don’t have the access to vinyl that we enjoy in the US. For example a new vinyl record in Chile costs 18 to 20 US dollars, in a country where most people earn a relatively small salary. This spawned the idea of distributing our first releases in the digital format.” In the Fall of 2007 SubSensory’s first two EP’s, “Shrapnel” and “Circles” hit the digital market with JunoDownload, TrackItDown, BeatsDigital and DanceRecords.com.

Since then SubSensory has released 5 EP’s featuring tracks from Jak, Primal, and Chilean artist Basstik and coming EPs will feature tracks and Remixes from Lil Roj, Chilean artist Mikiphone, Seattle based Jakub, and others TBA. SubSensory has also assembled Portland’s strongest techno DJ roster including JAK and Lil Roj and George Holland. George came out of a 5 year hiatus in 2007 and has quickly re-established himself as one of the most in-demand local djs. Others include Dj *aO*, Vixen, and PRA’s Nathan Detroit (www.pra.org), all of whom have seen a sizable surge in popularity in the past 6 months. In July 2008 JAK returns to Portland on the heels of the labels growth and his calendar is quickly filling up with event bookings including a highly anticipated Thursday August 14th event at Holocene, which will feature tag team sets from the entire Portland SubSensory roster.”
